Hurricane Season 2006

With this year's hurricane season less than a month away, it looks like this season will be another active one.

    Planned Forecast

    Named Storms 17
    Tropical Storms 9
    Hurricanes 5

Now as for New Orelans the levees will not be ready, which means a major hurricane hitting Louisana would be horrifying. Now although thsi season doesn't look as active as the 2005 season I think there will be more storms this season than just 17.

    Discuss.

I hope it doesn't hit LA or TX again. I have family in LA and I live in TX! XD

I think that this season will be worse. Due to the o-zone layer getting weaker, it gets hotter every year. This will heat the Gulf up, giving storms much more power. O_O

Well they're predicting a 47% chance of a major hurricane {Cat 3 or higher} striking the gulf coast from the panhandle westwerd.

Ok first of all you really know nothing about computers and 2nd of all i dont think we get hurricanes and 3rd of all you really are worrying about nothing 47% is really not that much to worry about if it were like 90% well them maybe and last
    Hi Dawg 2005.

47 percent is more than half, so that's definitely something to worry about when you deal with human life.

Five hurricanes is nothing compared to last year, given the warm weather even up here in New Jersey.

    Hi Dawg 2005.
Okay, first of all, if FireKP1 knows anything about computers or not is completely irrelevant to the topic. Second of all, 47% is a very high chance in terms of these sort of things. And third, you just wrote the longest run-on sentence I've ever seen. It's called punctuation~

    Anyways, I live in Ontario, so we really only get the remains of hurricanes. However, I've noticed the storms seem more intense this year. Wind has been stronger, more lightning, and the thunder has been horribly loud. X.x;

Its sort of bad for the people in New Orleans. They're just recovering and yet another hurricane will strike again. Why even rebuild? The hurricanes are just going to hit again.

    Hi Dawg 2005.
Who knows nothing about computers? O.o

    Austrailia can get hurricanes.

47% is a lot to worry about. That's almost half.

I still say the hurricane seasons will get worse every year. Just think about it. Have you noticed it's been getter warmer each year? Heat is a hurricane's fuel. The only reason Katrina (or was it Rita?) hit Louisiana is because two cold fronts pushed it there and weakened it slightly. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

BRING ON THE NEXT HURRICANE SEASON! X3 Being in Florida, we get about two every year; I'm actually kind of anxious.

I'm predicting there'll be another, even worse repeat of Katrina towards the fall.

You don't have to live somewhere to know the weather.

I'm guessing late September Texas and Lousiana will be hit by a CAT 4. Katrina hit as a CAT 3. o.o

Thats crazy, its like each passing year more powerful storms develop...but I live in Minnesota...no huricanes here.

Well i guess there are channel's on t.v like Sky News and stuff like that so another mastake...o.o
    Sorry ^_+

I live in the heart of a country, so I don't know if a hurricane would come there or not. I've been in the middle of a hurricane once. Had to wait the whole day out inside. I have never seen a tornado 'cept for on TV.

Katrina hit as a cat 4. The reason it was so devastating was because:

A: The city was already below sea level
B: The levees all broke and flooded the city
C: New Orleans has some very poor areas already

I've lived in Houston for thirteen years, the last major, major storm to hit here was (I think)Tropical Storm Allison. We got severe flooding on the freeways, but my area wasn't affected, but when I was going to summer school, my teacher told us how she got stuck in her house because of the flooding. Houston rarely gets devastations like the southeast does, but we do get frequent bad weather. Like tornadoes, for instance.

PS: No, we did NOT get Rita, either. Even though my area evacuated like mad, I played outside with my friends during the WORST of the storm. It was really windy, and fun. We didn't get anything severe.

My family lived in New Orleans for over five years, but they'd only seen Hurricane Andrew.(I was one, so I don't remember)

Well they're predicting a 47% chance of a major hurricane {Cat 3 or higher} striking the gulf coast from the panhandle westwerd.

It's really strange how whenever big hurricanes start chugging our way, they suddenly turn and hit, like, the South of Texas, or the East.

I feel sorry for anyone living in the East. :(

I like hurricanes, also. I can do fun things in them. Like go outside.

I've played outside for Ivan, Rita, and Allison. I'm not scared to play when the wind kicks up...

Only if I get hit by lightning. Then I'd stop.

And if there are water snakes. Then I'd take out the shovel.

Anyway, hurricane season for Houston sucks, we never get any bad weather.

    Oh well.

I live in Ontario so I don't need to worry about Hurricanes. However based on what KP said this looks like it will be another bad hurricane season. I'll be watching CNN this entire hurricane season.

*checks your age* You're 17 and think that 47% is more than half. That's incredible. You should get a free $1,000,000 scholarship to any college in the world for that. You are my hero. Wait, no, you're more than my hero. You are my god. You are now god to me.
