Its pretty cool. I suggest getting it. It has the sidebar gaget thing which a few programs that runs onscreen and other cool things. My 'puter is running somewhat faster, too. What are your guys oppinions?

I haven't used it, but judging by what everyone is saying it sounds like the ebola of operating systems.

Dont belieive what you hear about Vista...
It is a little unstable at times but it is faster and more secure than windows XP
If your computer has enough RAM then vista isn't problematic. I had to put an extra gigabyte of RAM into mine and it sped right up...But my computer was a cheap one from Walmart...

In my opinion if an OS requires more than 512 megs of RAM - It isn't worth it.

I have Vista as well. It came with the computer. Personally, I wanted to stick with XP for awhile more, but meh, I didn't have a choice. I wasn't going to pay more money for XP either, so Vista it is, I guess.

    I don't know if I like it or hate it, really. It is really pretty, which I like. The sidebar can be handy as well. On the other hand, a lot of my older programs screw up on it. For instance, Photoshop doesn't work quite right anymore. I have problems painting lines on the bottom and the right side of my files. I never had a problem on my older XP computer. My spellcheck for my LJ client isn't supported anymore, because for some reason it messes up in installation. Same with the software for my USB internet adapter (but it does work, at least)... and running the CD that came with my monitor. -_-;;
You have to get used to the new layouts and such as well, some of which I don't like either, but that isn't as bad as my older programs working. I can get used to new layouts and annoying popups when I install things -- however, I can't get used to not being able to use my programs like I used to.

like i said b4 dont belive what you hear about vista. Wait until it stabilizes and then try it.
XP was the same way when it came out...It was Chock full of bugs

I've been running Vista since...the beginning of February or so? I think that's when we got our new computer anyway. XD; I really don't mind it. The only thing that gives me problems and doesn't work well is iTunes and that's only if I use it too much, but using it through a gadget on the sidebar pretty much evades the problem so that's fine.

:| It just takes forever to switch between users for some reason. Everything else is really fast. I like it.

From what i have been hearing about vista it has all kinds of stuff wrong with it. you cant delete your online browsing history. You cant mod the OS with hack tool at all anymore and certain programmes wont run on it.

Just exactly what are you talking about? You can delete your browsing history. I do it all the time. And don't dare say I don't know what I am talking about, because I know well what to delete.

Oh and I do have Vista. :3

I have Vista too, and it's like totally better than XP... ^^; I have been using it since February on my Macbook Pro.

but, when I like play The Sims 2, it like lags alot and I get Out of Memory messages and it's soooo annoying =/

It is a bit of a memory hog though... try increasing your virtual memory settings and/or buying more RAM and that problem will go away...

I still don't think it's fair that you have to spend $200+ on a new OS and then another $50-$100 on RAM. =/

I agree. However it is worth the cash you put into it. You wont feel sorry when all the programs leave XP in the dust 5 years from now...

My dad wants to get Vista but...with all the troubles about the RAM...I doubt this piece of crap can handle it. >_>

    I like XP...I may not like Vista. : <

See its jsut not worth "upgrading" to Vista it costs to much, and its too much work.

With Ubuntu you can do everything you did in Windows but in a nicer more stable envronment.

And thanks to Feisty Fawn and Qemu you can now run your windows applications seamlessly with in Ubuntu.

Im not a Ubuntu user at this current moment in time but am swiching to Ubuntu when Feisty Fawn comes out as im on my last straw with windows.

you know you can use a program called VLite to modify your installation disk and remove some useless programs like Windows Mail or Sidebar.

I have vista on one of my computers :)
I love it, it is so good :)
    Highly recomanded

meh... for the time being, i'll stick with my dual boot 98/XP machine. i have no problems (except for the occasional virus, of which are from porn sites, and i have to smack some of my friends for that), and "manipulating" 98 and XP is very easy. sure, every so often, on 98 the blue screen of death appears, but that's when i know that my fists of death go after my porn loving friends that use my computer. >.<
