What do you do to prepare yourself to sleep?
Basically ,what kind of things you do before going to bed?
And about what time do you think "I should go to bed now."

Lately I've been having trouble getting to sleep , so I have to mentally myself. I drink warm liquids like tea or warm water and eat foods like peanut butter and bananas which are known to contain tryptophan, an amino acid in protein that causes drowsiness , to help me fall asleep. I also like to listen to calming music, such as classical or ambient electronic. There's this ambient project by Adam Young (or Owl City) called Port Blue and I've listened to that before bed alot. Also have been turning off lights to sort of "darken" the mood of the house. Since I'll be in dark room for over 8 hours or more, I feel it helps me adjust and get in the sleepy mood. Plus I sleep easier in a dark room than one with alot of light so sometimes I cover up the blinds and drapes.

I get myself tired by staying up late. All I do before I go to bed is browse the internet for random stuff. It's not really healthy for me, cause I barely get enought sleep. I feel more confortable sleeping in the day (usually in class) than at night. When there's a test or something important for the next day, I sleep at around 11. When I'm sick, 10. My average time is at 1. At weekends, 4 to 5 :P. Sleeping with music on helps me sleep faster...

Before going to bed on weekdays, I turn on the air conditioning, drink some milk, brush my teeth, then just lay down in bed until drowsiness overcomes me. On weekends, I just spend time online until past midnight, which is when I get so drowsy I just come to bed and sleep.

I actually have a big ritual I do before bed every night... Before I get in bed, I get 2 cheese sticks, a poppy seed muffin, and a glass of milk, and eat it while watching either a let's play, or some anime. After that I go to the bathroom, and then get in bed, and watch another lp video (I always have 1 lp dedicated to watch just before bed every night) and then I go to sleep.

I always do it exactly the same, every day. lol

    Three possibilities for me:

    1) I'm bored or I ran out of things to do for the day -> Go to bed
    2) I'm tired -> Go to bed
    3) I have to get up at a certain time tomorrow, I should go to bed by X time. That time happens -> Go to bed

I usually fall asleep on the keyboard while IMing some friends, then I wake up and realize I'm tired. So I take a leak and then lie down and sleep. Pretty basic, really. Though I do remember one embarrassing time when I fell asleep while webcamming... I vow to never let it happen again.

Normally I just go when I feel I will sleep quickly. Sometimes it takes me ages to sleep, even though I am shattered, but I know if I stay up any longer, it will just get worse.

I am known for my talking to people, then suddenly going, "Yep sleep now bye". Haha.

Before I go to sleep I:

Have a shower and brush my teeth cause everyone needs to have clean teeth before they go to bed, some nights I put in my retainers which suckkkkk.
After I get dressed again I get all cuddled up in bed and turn the tv on and grab ma ds.
I usually put on an episode of How I Met Your Mother (On my 7th run through, yes I AM THAT AWESOME.) and play pokemon during it. After one episode I'll turn the sleep timer on my tv and stop playing pokemon and just watch it till I fall asleep.

Awesome routine before going to sleep? I think so.

Things I ALWAYS do before I even touch my bed:

    -Facial cream
    -Tie my hair
    -Turn off any lights
    -Shower if I haven't already
    -Brush my teeth

    And that's all I do.

As for what time I should go to bed...I'm very random. I can sleep at 8 if I wanted too, but I can sleep at Midnight the next. It normally depends on how I feel, if I drank any soda, if there's anybody online I want to talk to, or maybe a show on tv.

Aside from brushing my teeth and, if by some miracle I've remembered where I left them, putting in my retainers, there's not much I do before I go to sleep. Usually I just stop texting my bf/get off the computer and flop on the bed and go to sleep, lol.

I've noticed that if all the electronics are off, and the room is dark, if I just stare blankly straight ahead, I'll be able to fall asleep quicker. Rain gently hitting the window helps, and so does a fan on low. Relaxing sounds help me fall asleep. I don't have any thing that I ~must~ do before I fall asleep. I fall asleep sometimes before I even eat dinner. Don't have to worry about turning off the TV (since I can't sleep with it on) considering it doesn't even turn on right now for some weird reason.

Well I decide to go to sleep if I'm bored or tired, but there are those times where I'll just be sitting or laying down and I fall asleep without 'planning' it.

Anyways once I decide to go to bed I usually change although in most cases I'm already in my pajamas and tbh why I even change idk because I rip them off before I get in the bed BUT ANYWAY, once I change I'll go to the bathroom, possibly have a sip of water, and brush my teeth but for some reason I tend to forget at night and do it in the morning which is probably not good but whatever. Then I'll make sure all the lights are off, close my shades, shut the door, rip off my clothes, and then climb into bed. Then while I'm laying in bed I'll either open the window/turn on the fan depending on temp, plug in my phone next to my bed and read some before bed tweets or talk to someone on msn until I'm too tired at which point I put my phone on the windowsill and usually look out the window until I fall asleep.

Which once I am just laying in my bed it takes about 20 minutes to a few hours to fall asleep loool

For whatever reason, it's always taken me ages to fall asleep. When I was younger, for example, there was a time where I wouldn't be able to sleep at all unless my bedroom door was just so far open, and the TV that my parents were watching in the living room was just loud enough, and that the passage light was on but no other light... Now, however, that's not the case. As long as it's dark and I'm tired, I'll be able to fall asleep eventually. But 'eventually' is still the key word.

Normally, I don't go to bed until after midnight; the times I've tried to fall asleep beforehand have often failed miserably, so I don't try any more. As well as this, I like to have the temperature just right, so that might mean turning the heating on/off or opening/closing a window, depending on the season. After that, I'll make sure I've had a few minutes without looking at my laptop - as trying to fall asleep straight away after browsing the internet is increasingly becoming a tall order. If I'm feeling particularly restless, I might sometimes listen to some calming, ambient music - or even a podcast I didn't listen to earlier in the day. Sometimes a soothing voice is just what the doctor ordered in that regard (or sometimes a soothing synthesizer!) That's about it, really. :D

Um, I listen to music and usually drift off. But then my dad wakes me and tells me to brush my teeth and put my retainer on. -__-

I guess it's because it's heavy into the school year for me but because I'm working so hard and late with my design and photography assignments (as well as my the subjects), I fall asleep the moment my head hits the pillow. There's not much to do besides turning off all the lights and turning the heater on (from the cold cold winter).

Aside from cleansing and generally washing my face I don't think I really do that much stuff before I go to bed. I probably try to do as little before I go to sleep since the majority of the time I'll end up daydreaming instead of going to bed.

I turn off the computer, go to the bathroom, brush my teeth, turn off the lights, and then lie down. I have to at least use the bathroom before I go to bed otherwise I can't relax. I'm weird like that.

I tend to toss and turn a lot before I get to sleep. It probably takes me 30-60 minutes to actually fall asleep, depending on how tired I am and how much goes around in my mind.

I usually brush my teeth, go to the bathroom, find my cat (lol) and shut my bedroom door. If I'm really tired at this point I'll just go to bed but on the weekends and on days I can't go to sleep I usually take out my computer and browse the web/listen to music for a while. The times are random, sometimes I stay up until 2am sometimes it's just 11. I probably spend too much time on the internet than what is good for me. .-.

I usually decide it's time to go to bed between 1:30 and 2am. Then I go have a shower which always takes at least half an hour because I always find myself just standing under the water and thinking and enjoying the warmth. So then I get out of the shower and brush my teeth. Then I usually go out into the kitchen and get a glass of water and drink that, then I go to my bedroom.

I turn off all the lights before I go for my shower, and I don't turn any on after that so I brush my teeth and everything in the dark. Then I go to my bedroom (which is right next to my parents' bedroom) and using the light of my iPhone, I get a hanger and hang my work pants up in my wardrobe (because when I get home from work I almost always leave them laying on my bed, being too lazy to hang them up then - which has more than once resulted in my fatass cat vomitting all over them) and turn the blinds so that they're at an angle which will have all the sun coming directly onto me when I get up.

Of course, I always wake up and my mother has turned the blinds back around during the night because she's a meddling ***** and wants me to sleep later than I want to sleep, but whatever.

I usually think that it's time to get ready for bed when it's 1:00 AM or if I'm just tired. At that time I go to the bathroom, strip down to my manties and undershirt (I wear one every day), brush teeth, wash face, etc. After I'm finished with my hygienic routine, I go into my room and take a melatonin tablet, plug in my phone and get into my bed. By now it's about 1:20. I read a book for about 20 minutes, so by the time I'm actually trying to sleep it's 1:40. It takes about 10-20 minutes for me to fall asleep, so I'm usually asleep by 2:00. I usually wake up from this at around 10-12 AM without an alarm clock.
