I bought my Japanese Ruby version off of eBay a few years ago, and I think it might be fake. It is a black cartridge, with Pokemon Ruby Version written on it in Japanese.
It does not look like this:
    *pokemonpalace link removed*

It kind of looks like this one, except my cartridge doesnt have a pic of Groudon on it:

I will try to take a pic. with my webcam.
    Edit: I scanned a pic

I never saw a Jap. ruby game..but that really doesnt look like it would be the real one...would ent it be the same as the american one execpt in Japanesse?

If you said a few years ago... it's definately a fake of some sort. Does the game actually work at all?

im with salamence, i dont think its real, but then again i have never seen the Jap. version.

    I don't think it's real neither,they don't look the same.

Well I bought it in March 2003...So like almost 2 years ago

This game works fine, although I had to replace the game save battery in it a while ago because I had played it so much...

I have a japenese sapphire with a black cartridge. I got it when my dad went to tokyo a while back. I think yours is real. If it works fine then it must be real.

There may be a few compatibility issues between a Japanese game and a US GBA (I assume you're in the US) but probably not many.

well if u want to see if it's fake or not. u should see if it says nintendo on the back.

well u said the game words...so i gues it has to be real...unless som one made there own version of the game...but isnt that illegal?..not to mention it would ent be easy

Well, it works fine on my GBA, but GBAs are universal systems

yeah y don't u buy the english version u can get them of ebay pretty cheap.

    anyway what does pm mean!!!

    Pm means Private Messege

You should Get the English Version Unless you know Japenese Or you know what`s Going on

Why do you have to buy a English Version of what he got? Couldn't you just use a walkthrough? (Sorry, just my opinion) Anyways, I guess maybe I should go into topic (if any isn't). I can't see the picture you scanned, but oh well. I think that's, a Fake,
but not what you can call it into. Somebody must have uploaded the ROM of the Pokemon Ruby, and put it into that cartridge, without any files in the beginning. My cousin has a Jap. Ruby, and it's nothing like yours. So I'm guessing it's a ROM put-in cartridge that has Pokemon Ruby inside.

    Off-Topic:
I've got a fake cartridge myself. But it's more than 100 games inside. I don't play it anymore as it can't save anymore. Darn those glitches! Anyways, just watch out for
when you can't save anymore. Unless you're lucky.

    Adios to everybody,
    ~Tetris
