What are your thoughts on pop songs with sexual themes, such as Poker Face, and She-Wolf? I personally don't mind them if they're just subtle references like the song in my thread title, but I feel kind of uncomfortable when they just blatantly describe raunchy stuff like Poker Face does, because I know that little kids will hear the songs and then start singing them. I have heard kids singing Poker Face before and it made me sad. Does it make you sad also?

I don't care for them, I think they're egotistical and asinine, and most songs themed that way are written very sloppily. But I try not to pay attention.

A song that requires such little thought makes it harder for me to appreciate.

Is the title of the thread named after the Stooges/Sonic Youth song by any chance?

But yeah, I don't mind songs having bad lyrics, but not if they're going to be popular and on the radio where little kids can hear them. My sister sings horrible lyrics without knowing their meaning and it makes me sad.

I don't mind sexually themed pop songs. The only time when I'm forced to listen to them is when I'm with my friends because that's the only music they know and listen to.

Maybe I'm just someone who's very unconcerned with things such as these, but I don't think it's that big of a problem for younger kids to be listening/singing to these songs. If anything it's just annoying not saddening.

I dismiss lyrics in favor of instrumentals. You could be talking about threesomes ("3"), bisexuality ("Poker Face"), or wanting to release your inner "woman of easy virtue" ("She Wolf"); I don't care - if I can dance/headbang to it, and I enjoy the music's composition, I can and will enjoy it.

I was just listening to that song today (I wanna be your dog), but covered by Émilie Simon, not the Stooges one (isn't that great in my opinion), but anyway...

There's nothing wrong with sexual themes in songs (such as in songs about leaving childhood behind) per se, but songs exclusively made up of sexual themes and innuendos or any kind of cheap, attention-craving lyrics are uncreative garbage just made to get quick money. I only want to see, or rather hear, sexual themes in songs by mature artists who know how to handle them.
