    Everyday we learn something new, from the awesome, to the mundane, to even thought provoking. So I figured I would start a thread where we could share interesting facts or information that we learned each day in hopes of broadening everyone's knowledge.

    Today I learned about Miki Endo, a woman who gave her life issuing Tsunami warnings up to the moment of her death over the city's loud speakers. Her heroic efforts ended up saving the lives of many others, who heard her call and went running for higher ground.

    Americans use "frown" to describe when you have an upside-down smile instead of when you furrow your brow in concentration or disappointment. So a sadface emoji is called "frowning emoji". I was flabbergasted for a few minutes.

    Canadians do this too. It messed me up to discover that "frown" didn't refer to an upside down smile (which we have no word for—do other countries?) and just the furrowed brows. I still kinda refuse to accept it.

    Although I think most North American dictionaries include our North American usage, so it's not, like, wrong to us.
     
    Nanjou Yoshino (She voiced Eli Ayase in Muse/Love Live) is in Fripside and her debut song with them was Only My Railgun. And I had literally no idea until today.

    Today, I learned that the same voice actress who voiced the original Elora from Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage was also Ginger in As Told By Ginger.
     
    I learnt that the German Naruto opening exists, and it is absolute gold.

    Along similar lines, basically everything was censored in the German Naruto. I also learnt that this opening was also aired in Australia but I never knew because I didn't watch Naruto when it was airing on TV.
