RocketShipping, as in Jessie/James. I don't own anything.

SUMMARY: Jessie, in one of those blast-off-and-take-the-heroes-and-Pokemon-by-accident episodes, tells Dawn about her increasing crush.

    I'M FALLING FOR HIM

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Dawn found her fall broken by a warm body.

    A female body. Soft.

    Jessie.

"TWERP!" Jessie wriggled out, her expression showing pure disgust for the young Coordinator.

"Ow...thanks for breaking my fall..." Dawn rubbed her neck as she struggled to stand.

The red-haired "grunt" rolled her eyes and extended her hand. "I suppose I'll have to cooperate with you if we get out of here." Dawn raised an eyebrow, while her Piplup scratched his head.

"Oh, come on, twerp! Trust me, I won't steal your Pokemon until we get out of here."

Dawn shrugged, and extended her hand. Jessie roughly pulled.

What followed was a string of angry expletives from Dawn, which Jessie probably thought was picked up from the other, more easily-angered Pikachu-owning twerpette girlfriend.

As soon as Dawn could stand, she let off an angry shout. "I THOUGHT YOU WOULDN'T TRY TO BREAK MY ARM!"

"I didn't even know my own strength." Jessie turned her back on Dawn, hiding the tears that were about to fall. "It's just that I feel...vulnerable."

Dawn raised an eyebrow, while Piplup jumped down at once, tugging on the Coordinator's legs.

"What is it, Piplup?" Dawn gently asked her starter.

"Piplup! Pi pi plup plup piplup pip lup piplup!" Piplup excitedly chattered, pointing to Jessie.

"Wait, you know why she's so...quiet? I mean, usually she's...a mean old hag." That got Jessie's attention.

"I AM NOT A MEAN OLD HAG!" she screamed.

"Sorry, just talking to Piplup!" Dawn then turned back to conversation with Piplup. "So?"

"PIPLUP! Pip plup pip pip pi pi pip piplup lup plup!"

"WHAT! You rude little Pokemon!" Jessie grabbed Piplup by the newly-made vest. "I DO NOT, and NEVER WILL, have a crush on my TEAMMATE! He's only like a brother to me!"

Dawn's mouth suddenly twisted itself into a grin. "You like him," she translated for Piplup.

    "I DO NOT!"

"Pip!" Piplup disagreed with Jessie, apparently.

"Of course you do. Around him, you're so, what does Dianne call you, big-headed."

    "I AM NOT BIG-HEADED!"

    "Piplup pip!"

"But without him, you're so quiet. Like you believe you're nothing without him. Face it, without James, you don't feel so good!"

Jessie slumped to the ground in defeat. "Alright. I'll admit. I watch him when he sleeps, apparently."

Dawn sat down on the ground, Piplup now hopping up onto her shoulder and rubbing his neck. "So why don't you tell him?"

"Like I told you. He's almost like my brother. And I feel like I'm violating him. I'm supposed to protect James, not feel the want to possess him or something!" Jessie threw up her hands. "Was that what your twerpette friend felt?!"

"First, her name is Dianne," Dawn corrected. "Second, you're not violating him when you watch him sleep. In fact, sometimes he may watch you sleep!"

Jessie's face contorted into a shocked expression. "Really, Dawn?"

"Hey, you know my name! Why don't you use it?"

    "Twerp sounds better."

"Eh, back to James. You should probably tell him that you're falling for him, maybe ask him out sometime."

"PIPLUP!" Piplup interrupted, pointing to a light beyond the forest. Dawn smiled.

"Maybe later, Piplup. Anyway, try saying 'James, I know you like to watch me when I sleep. I do too. I like you.' He might be surprised."

"Thanks for the advice, Dawn." Jessie stood, and helped Dawn stand as well. "But that doesn't mean I'll try to, you know, not go back to what I was."

"I'm not counting on that. But I do know that you and James will make a great couple. Besides, he's probably looking for you right now." Dawn picked Piplup up. "That means he likes you!"

Jessie grinned, genuinely. "You're the first real girl I've told. Don't tell anybody, all right?" she asked.

Dawn grinned back, the smile of friendship. "Promise."

    "Thanks."
