Right so I randomly decide to start playing my Firered again to find myself sitting in front of Bruno with an ill prepared crew of pkmn (I assume i went to fight them E4 just to see how far I'd get as is). Surprising thanks to plenty of healing items >_> I made it up to Lance and had his Dragonite kill me, joy.
So now that I'm free of the E4 for now, I need to do some training obviously, as I'm not made of healing items XD nor do I really like to spam them in battle...

let have a look at my current crew, shall we?
    Strike/Pidgeot LV 45
    Steel Wing
    Fly
    Gust
    Quick Attack

    Golduck LV 46
    Strength
    Confusion
    Aerial Ace

    Buster/Nidoking LV 46
    Peck
    Mega Punch
    Water Pulse
    Double Kick

    Tails/Raichu LV 50
    Thundershock
    Quick Attack
    Mega Kick
    Thunderbolt

    Dragonair LV 51
    Slam
    Shock Wave
    Twister
    Dragon Rage

    Zipo/Charizard LV 53
    Metal Claw
    Cut
    Slash
    Flamethrower

So thats them as they are now, and I'm aware of the poor attack selection for most of them. I plan on changing them, but i thought why not see what other can suggest before I go choosing over myself. That and of course I need to do a bit of leveling..especially for my dragonair...cause I want my Dragonite >_<. I don't really want to have to spend a long period of time fighting wilds in Victory road...if possible i rather find somewhere i can still fight trainers, but I can't think of anywhere or how (its been that long sadly).

So yeah any help that can be given will be appreciated

(also if anyone plans on suggest a pkmn switch out I was thinking of not using my Pidgeot anymore...)

    Dragonite's are annoying ain't they?

    Strike/Pidgeot LV 45
    Steel Wing
    Fly
    Gust
    Quick Attack

Would like to see Whirlwind in place of Gust, or Brick Break.

    Golduck LV 46
    Strength
    Confusion
    Aerial Ace

Fourth move should be Surf or Waterfall.

    Buster/Nidoking LV 46
    Peck
    Mega Punch
    Water Pulse
    Double Kick

Remove Peck for Earthquake and Double Kick for Thunder.

    Tails/Raichu LV 50
    Thundershock
    Quick Attack
    Mega Kick
    Thunderbolt

    Remove Thundershock and Quick Attack.

    Dragonair LV 51
    Slam
    Shock Wave
    Twister
    Dragon Rage

Put Ice Beam, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, and Outrage on your Dragonite. It owns Loreli, Lance, and even most of Gary's team easily.

    Zipo/Charizard LV 53
    Metal Claw
    Cut
    Slash
    Flamethrower

Get rid of Slash, Cut, and Metal Claw. Anything else would suffice.

VS Seeker is a really good tool to use when angered with no more trainers. If you really want a helpful Pokemon in place of Pidgeot, Gengar with Psychic/Shadow Ball/Hypnosis/Dream Eater does wonders in any game.

Train them to level 60 or at the least, 55 (Dragonite NEEDS to be 60+)

Wow, I didn't know Pidgeot could learn brick break...and if it can sweet XD I'll have to check into that

and I some how forgot to list Surf as an attack Golduck already knows lol oops. so i got that covered though I think I need a strong physic attack

Earthquake was in the making for Nidoking and will be on him shortly...as for thunber I'd probably end of giving it that

As for Raichu, got any idea on replacement attacks?

You just reminded me I had gotten ice beam for that soon to be Dragonite, though currently I don't think I can afford to get two more TMs from the game corner :/

I already got rid of cut, but I plan on keeping slash as it has been useful to me...course if I had it I'd replace it with Return (since that always seems to wonder with my first pkmn, go figure) but again here I'm not sure what else to give me, don't really know whats he is compatible with

And oddly enough, I don't seem to have VS Seeker...though one would think that is a item you are not able to miss getting...though seems thats not the case, do you know where you get it?
And as for your gengar suggest, i may go with it...providing I can just easily get one off my Gale of Darkness...

My Pidgeot learned it in my Gold version, FireRed should be able to :D

VS Seeker is in Vermillion City, from that blue haired lady.

Return is a good move if you feel like using it, just be good to Zipo D:

EQ does great for Nidoking, maybe a fire attack if you feel it's the right thing to do.

You sure your thinking of Brick Break? cause I thought that attack came out in the 3rd gen games...and I just check, it can't learn it

I did get the VS Seeker though, now I just got to find some goods areas for trainer rematches to get my cash up and LVs ofcourse

and I'm always good to my pkmn :P

Maybe I was thinking of Drill Peck, hmm...I have to check.

EDIT: Nevermind, I named my Pidgeot Brick xD.

XD well looking at just how many of my pkmn can learn it, it seem it most likely will still be put to good use...and I may teach my Charizard dig...maybe
and oh, one more LV till I finally get my dragonite ^_^

I just sort of skimmed all the replies, so sorry if I repeat an answer, but:
I had this question a few days ago.
    I used:

    A Charizard level 45,
    Articuno 50
    Zapdos 50
    Raichu 41 (With thunder)
    Golem 58+
    Alakazam 58+ (Psychic)

To be honest, you can kill the first person with Thunder or Thunderbolt, very easily.
I suggest you get a Kadabra to around 45+, and he will destroy Bruno and the third Elite Four
    Member.

My Alakazam floored MOST of Lance's Dragons, and then Gary was fairly simple.

I suggest you at least have a Pokemon with Psychic at least level 45+.

Pidgeot is good, train him in the cave on Machoke's (like lever 48+). Also, there is a Dual Trainer battle in Celadon (right above Snorlax). They have a level 29 Rapidash and 29 Ninetales, if you VS seeker those two, you gain about 2000+ exp per try, and a run to the poke center and back will recharge your VS seeker.

dude...dont set four attacks on your pokemon....maybe you can set it to 2 attacks then 2 power-ups type...so that you cannot screw up with the elite four...

Lol wut? Ingame, power up moves are as useful as ingame taunt. Stat altering moves are good, power ups not so much.

XD well looking at just how many of my pkmn can learn it, it seem it most likely will still be put to good use...and I may teach my Charizard dig...maybe

No dig D: 2 turns and decent (not great) damage isn't worth it. A good ground move would be EQ though.

'Grats on the Dragonite. I never got one :(

I think you need to teach your Pokemon Ice type moves... Also, I agree with KT. Stat-altering moves are somewhat better than power-ups... But it's up to you. Also, maybe you can train more so you can evolve Dragonair into Dragonite, though bad thing is that it would be part-Flying...

well if you use both Stat-altering moves and power up moves well the result will be good.

What's the point of using power ups? Anything aside of a mentally incapable Magikarp would own ingame. They have no power ups (except for a few ones) Stat altering moves make a better choice in the slot.

To me both power ups and stat alters are a waste of a move *shrugs* I just can't see a point in them, though power ups I can see a bit more of a point too...if you plan on using that same pkmn for a while in the battle..

but as things go for me right now, I've got them all (except Pidgeot) to LV 50 at least (with Charizard and Dragonite currently sitting at 55). I did teach Dragonite Ice beam and Nidoking got Earthquake and Brickbreak. I also taught Charizard Dragon Claw though I didn't mean too lol I had delete Cut leaving an empty space..so whoops lol but oh well, its not a bad attack, he along learnt Blastburn cause i could *shrugs*
Still not sure what I'm going to do about Pidgeot's attacks though, he definitely needs a change as does Raichu...the others are fine now, though Golduck could use a more powerful physic move.

I can't remember where that guy is that teach your pkmn moves they forgotten...cause he may be of some use to me, if not I guess the game corner's TM will help too

Congratulations thus far, you should be able to take on the E4 with little trouble (I took out D/P E4 which have Pokemon in the high sixties with Pokemon as low as 48 and a high as 54)

Power ups are a waste of time. If you can't take out a Pokemon (bar not very effective) you need more training. Stat altering is good for things like Tyranitar (2nd stage E4. Gary's T-tar is a BEAST. It knows Aerial Ace, Thunderbolt, Crunch, and Earthquake. Meaning it can pretty much take out your whole team if not prepared)

The biggest problem in Lance's arsenal to me is Gyarados. It takes so much damage and heals up via Full Restore. Also, if you don't have fast/bulky Poke's, his Aerodactyl can sweep your team pretty quickly. But you have Dragonite which should take out Aero pretty easily.

Gyarados is the easiest one to me

    Go Raichu!
    Use Thunderbolt!
    [Gyarados has been owned'd]

Not all of us are blessed with the 'Chuster. I wasn't. I took out Gyarados with a Charizard :D Blast Burn spam FTW (yes, I was a n00b in 04)

What I am really fearful about for this team is Machamp. I don't know if he knows Rock Slide, but if he does, say GG to Pidgeot, Charizard, and maybe Dragonite if it's a critical hit.
