    Fight to the Finish! (PG-13)

Hey this be my first fanfic so feel free to check it out ;) Its rated PG-13 because I might have some violence and language deserving of that rating later but consider it mostly a PG adventure! It's set about 8 years after the events in Pokemon R/B/Y and involves the adventures of a young trainer in the Kanto region. Please feel free to post comments here in between chapters, I will try to churn one out every few days when I get the time. Thanks and welcome to the Indigo League Journeys first installment: Fight to the Finish!

    CHAPTER 1
?Pin Missile! Win it all Beedrill!? On his cue the bug type released the barrage of razor sharp shrapnel. The force of the blow sent the Bulbasaur flying into the opposing wall. The crowd?s roar became deafening as the judge declared Bulbasaur unable to battle. Ken?s heart felt like it was about to jump out of his chest. He had just won his first League match, and with only one Pokemon.
    Later...
A pair of arms grabbed the chair he was sitting in, nearly flipping it. ?What gives!?? Ken yelled. ?Hey hotshot calm down, I just wanted to say congrats on your first win!? A voice came from the back. It was Jim. ?I?ll admit I didn?t think you had much of a chance but I guess you?ll never cease to amaze me.? Jim was wearing his usual getup: a black t-shirt with the League logo, and some baggy khakis. He still had his spiked red hair. Jim lived relatively close to Ken?s hometown in Viridian City too. Just right down the street in Pallet Town. The two had met up while on Victory Road and tested each other?s skills, got into a few fistfights, and out of some tight spots. In other words Jim was a friend. ?Yeah I didn?t think you had it in you either!? Laughter followed the voice to the right. It was Lily, a Cerulean City native whose older sisters ran the local Gym. Lily grew up around Pokemon. She knew all about the water type especially, even helped Ken catch a Staryu. She was in her ?comfortable clothes? which meant a pair of old ripped shorts, a white tee, and a denim jacket. She had met up with Ken during his fight in the Cerulean Gym. She wanted to get out and see the world, and had chosen to tag along with him. Of course Ken didn?t object to a pretty girl coming along for the road.
The three were sitting in a lounge near the stadium. They had all won their matches and were guaranteed a spot in the second round. The announcers voice came on yelling out the names of trainers that needed to report for their battles. People scurried by trying to keep their schedules. The low hum of the ceiling fan could be heard over the applause from the arena and the pedestrian traffic. Jim looked up, ?Someone needs to get that dam.n thing fixed. It?s been driving me nuts since we got here!? ?But Jim we?ve only been here for a day and a half.? Said Lily laughing. Lily was always laughing; she was the most cheerful person anyone would ever meet, always happy. ?Now announcing the round two match-ups for the 141st annual Indigo League Tournament.? The announcer?s voice rang over the intercom.
Jim sprang up rushing to the boards as the results were displayed. ?Huh? Man I gotta face some nobody named Ike. Calls himself a ?Rock Pokemon Master,? man this will be soo easy!? Jim smirked boasting his usual confidence. ?I?m up against Flora of Lavender Town, she apparently uses ghosts.? Lily grabbed onto Ken?s shoulder, doing her best ghost impression. Ken cracked up. It looked like a Dunsparce caught in a blender. ?Whatssa matter? Scared of a little spook?? she said. ?Nah, just thinking about how dumb people are to be using specialized teams in a tourney where balanced ones prevail.? Ken spat. ?Wow, aren?t you the little judge. You up late reading the rulebooks?? Lily gazed at the board for a second and turned away. ?Well I?ll see you guys later, I?m gonna go get some rest!? her face was somber. ?But it?s three in the afternoon! There is still stuff to do!? Jim said. ?Let her go man, her next opponent is the favorite, that Kyle guy.? ?You mean the ?raven hair pretty boy?? The one all the girls go gaga for?? Jim remarked. ?Yeah that guy?Lily is gonna need all the help she can get tomorrow.?

    CHAPTER 2
His cheek began to burn. Charmeleon?s tail had floated into his face yet again. Not that Ken minded; he had gotten used to having to push the flame away from him in the middle of the night. ?The stubborn starter?that is definitely you.? Ken muttered. His Charmeleon had never wanted to go into a pokeball, ever since it was a Charmander. So he let it out, unless it was absolutely necessary to contain it. The tail always died down to a shimmering ember when Charmeleon slept. All the experts said it was to conserve energy. Ken sat up and stared at the fire type, rubbing the soot mark off his face. It had been three months since he had left his hometown in Viridian City. Since he had earned 8 straight badges and had been accepted into the Indigo League Tournament. Since he had met Lily and then Jim, and shared so many adventures with them. All his goals were becoming reality so fast.
Ken took in a deep breath and sighed, his eyes still locked on Charmeleon?s tail. The second round was tomorrow and he couldn?t sleep. He stood up and stretched, it was early in the morning. The rays of the sun could be seen peeking through the window shades, bathing the floor in a dim glow. He glanced over at Charmeleon who yawned and opened his eyes. His tail burst into a mix of orange and red as smoke floated from his nostrils. Ken decided it was time?for breakfast!
There was no one else in the cafeteria. It was an eerie site. Ken decided a few donuts should satisfy him until the actual kitchen opened. He made his way to the machine without incident in the hazy darkness. Reaching for the selection buttons a voice called out to him: ?Aren?t you going to sit down and talk to me?!? Ken fell flat on his face. ?Geez Lily you scared the crap out of me!? ?Sorry,? she replied cracking up. Ken pulled himself up to the table where she was sitting. ?So what?s up? What are you doing up so early?? That?s when he noticed the trash bags under her normally vibrant green eyes. ?I?ve been trying to find out some weakness I can exploit on this guy,? she mumbled out. It was obvious she was extremely tired. ?I?ve looked and looked and gone back over every bit of data the League has on him and?nothing, jack, nada! It?s like he has the ultimate team or something. And I don?t see why the other girls think he is so hot either?looks like a skinny a.ss jerk to me!? They both chuckled. This was more of the Lily Ken knew, the sarcastic, smarmy, jokester. ?He uses a lot of Steel hybrid types, but nothing my current team can exploit. I simply don?t have the power to take this guy out.? Suddenly Lily?s face piqued. ?Hey I have a favor to ask. Do you think I could borrow your Charmeleon for this match? I don?t have any Fire types and yours is really strong soo?pretty please??? Lily gave her best puppy dog eyes. Ken frowned, ?You do know that means I cant use him in my match tomorrow. A Pokemon can only compete once during the day.? ?Ah hah! You have been reading the rulebook Ken! But do you really think you'll need Charmeleon against that ghost trainer. C?mon it?ll help me out a bunch!? Lily pleaded. ?Well I don?t think ill need him but be careful and don?t push him too hard! I wanna keep him in top shape for the Final match!? Ken gave a quick thumbs up which Lily shook her head to. ?You mean IF you get to the Final match.? Ken laughed. ?Well hey if you don?t get some amount of sleep though, you aren?t gonna beat him no matter what strategy you have cooked up.? Lily yawned, ?Yeah, I guess I?ll go take a cat nap, see you later?? Ken watched her walk away, taking a bite from his donut as she turned the corner and disappeared into the hall.

Nice fic, 003. I think Lily and Ken are gonna kiss! Sorry, had to say that. It's touching to see a realistic friendship between Ken and Jim, they fight, yet they are good friends. Good job, keep up the good work and description!
