Innovations in History?

I mainly ask because I have a school project, and no topic :/.

What do you think are some of the most important innovations in history? Interesting ones?

I can really only think of a few that interest me in the slightest.

Printing Press, Paper Money, Airplanes, Trains.

Electricity? hmmm is than an innovation? maybe the harnesing of electricity or the light bulb? Refrigeration, ummmm i guess those are what i can think of because the rest that i would say aren't great because they led to horrible events and the advancement of destruction.

Yes, I do believe that it would classify as one.

How about going as far back as the Roman days, about Democracy? XD
That actually sounds interesting. I found my new project xD. Uh, er, how do I make a model a of Democracy?

If you mean an actual physical model, my best guess would be get material that looks or simulates the look of marble, then you will just need to make a model of where this was held... I forget the name of the building, but I am sure it's all there. They called it the 'republic' back then which in Latin means 'matters of the people' sort of like that.

EDIT: So appearantly I'm not up to snuff on my history either... XD Democracy was an Ancient Greek thing, I am still searching for a building though.

We should also probably take this to VMs, this doesn't seem like the right place.

The persians made an incredibly advanced (for their time) system of hydrology.
Oh and Cyrus the great was one of the first humanitarians :3

Well of course, if you want to think of any Innovation in general you need the definition. So just for the sake of being sure - Innovation is merely introducing something new. No matter how ground-breaking the idea may be. Having said that here's a few key Innovations in History (Off the top of my head.) -

The World Wide Web (Internet).
Google. (Yes, that can be counted seperately)
The Aeroplane.
The Wheel.
Automobile.
Paper...

etc.

~Influence on history and the Bible by the Roman Catholic Church
~one could look into sailing developments of the ancient world, I guess
~Technicolor...
~history is written by the victor: look into the losers if at all possible

Well a good way to think of all the human inventions is to catorgorize them. Such as this..

Travel
- Locomotives
- Automobiles
- Aircrafts
- Boats/Ships
- Rockets

Health
- Vacines
- Medicines
- CAT scans

Textiles
Flying Shuttle
Spinning Jenny
Water Frame
Power Loom
Cotton Gin

I can't believe that no one has mentioned AC electricity yet. By none other than Nikola Tesla, the genius.
Ac Electricity is more efficient than DC Electricity in a large circuit by far.

Nikola Tesla also developed the Tesla Coil

The undisputed Master of Lightning,
I read about that guy :) But I completely forgot about him, too.
