From Georgia to Michigan... it's over! (or at least it'd better be). There is absolutely no excuse for letting a sex offender slip in to run a public school system or its operating departments.

    Julius Anthony turns himself in
Former Flint school administrator faces judge
    WJRT By Matt Franklin

FLINT (WJRT) - (01/05/07)--Former Flint school administrator Julius Anthony returned to Genesee County Friday, this time to face a judge.

Friday was the deadline for Anthony to surrender himself to investigators after he failed to register as a sex offender while living in Mid Michigan.

Genesee County investigators arrested Anthony just after 8 a.m. at the District Court Building.

The prosecutor said in court that Anthony tried slipping under the radar by going to the courthouse instead of the jail. But either way Anthony's attorney says he turned himself in.

Anthony had nothing to say as he was released on a $20,000 personal bond. His attorney says he will head back to Georgia to take care of legal matters in that state.

Friday morning in district court was the first time we have seen or heard from Anthony since he resigned from the district in September.

He was in court handcuffed and shackled with family members looking on. He only responded to questions asked by Judge Michael McAra.

The former Flint administrator was charged with failing to register as sex offender while living in Mid Michigan and failing to notify authorities that he was moving back to Georgia.

Those are four-year felonies. He also is facing a one-year misdemeanor for violating the student safety zone act while working the district.

In 1996, Anthony was charged with molesting a 3-year-old boy in Fulton County, Ga. Four years later, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

Right now, his legal team is working to get that removed from his record, and his attorney believes that will clear up the matters in Genesee County.

"This failure to register is based on a Georgia conviction," said Harrell Milhouse, Anthony's attorney.

"Once that is cleared up -- because that's the underlying felony, the underlying conviction -- once that is cleared up, we are confident that this will take care of that matter."

Anthony is scheduled to back in court next week.
