FireRed hack: Introducing Pokémon Rekindled Red

    In 2009, the famous Pokémon ROM hacker Drayano released his very first in a series of difficulty hacks that have since been widely praised: Pokémon FireRed Omega. FireRed Omega gives the Trainers and Wild Pokémon in Generation 3 Kanto a huge shake-up, allowing players to catch every single Pokémon from the first three Generations. Trainers were changed to be much more of a challenge, giving you ample opportunity to make use of the many Pokémon that were introduced to the region.

    However, a hack made so long ago is bound to be outdated by today's standards. Though Wild encounters and Trainers were edited, not much else was. While newer entries in Drayano's series - like Renegade Platinum - add extra features like unique events for Legendaries, all-new Trainer battles, or infinite TM usage, FireRed Omega lacks all these things.

    With this in mind, we'd like to introduce Pokémon Rekindled Red, an update to Pokémon FireRed Omega using Deokishisu's FRLG-Plus as a base.

    Some of the features hailing from FRLG-Plus:
    • Infinite TM usage;
    • Gym Leader rematches;
    • The addition of a familiar HM move;
    • The Battle Tower from Ruby and Sapphire;
    • Master Trainers, akin to those featured in Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee;
    • Indoor running;
    • Cut trees being permanently gone after being removed;
    • Auto-run toggle;
    • Toggleable Mach Bike speed;
    • Faster Surfing;
    • More Bag pockets for easier menu navigating;
    • Berries ported from Emerald;
    • Battle-related options, like speeding up the HP Bar;
    • Instant text option.
    • Plus many more!
    Features added for Rekindled Red:
    • Wild Pokémon locations overhauled, based on Drayano's FireRed Omega;
    • Trainer teams overhauled, based on Drayano's FireRed Omega;
    • Smarter Trainers, based on later Drayano hacks;
    • Different Starters;
    • Unique events for every single Legendary Pokémon, designed and written by Thirteen1355;
    • Newly added story/lore elements;
    • A lot more to explore in an overhauled Sevii Islands chain;
    • Puzzles, riddles and mysteries;
    • Similar events for obtaining every Starter Pokémon;
    • Powerful new Trainer battles, both new and familiar;
    • Many entirely new areas, like the Viridian Forest Depths;
    • Familiar areas, never seen before in Generation 3;
    • Dark is now Physical; Ghost is now Special;
    • Regional Forms.
    • Many unique visual flourishes, including sideways stairs.

    Game looks fantastic. Glad to see an expansion of one of the first QoL games made with Pokefirered.

    Thread approved!

    Looks awesome, will definitely try this out! I know FRLG-Plus has a 2x EXP modifier but does this hack have rare candies purchasable in-game? 2x EXP is great but doesn't help much with weaker catches later on in the game.

    Does this not have all of FRLG Plus' base features? I don't see a Key System menu on the main menu where I can select nuzlocke mode and other options...

    Anyways if anybody reads this found a bug relating to the Spearow line mid game the trainers who possess either Spearow or Fearow make the game freeze in battle not sure if this is a specific emulator issue or an issue with the ROM itself I will test mGBA since I am now on my PC I was using the outdated MyBoy. Update it is a ROM issue. Also I have seen no issues if the Player uses the Spearow line personally there's no issue with early game trainers with Spearow only occurs after Snorlax for some strange reason.

    MyBoy! Tends to have a problem causing random bugs on Hacks mGBA is the best bet for you if you are using your PC and PizzaBoy for Android.

    Either way I determined that the bug's an issue within the ROM not emulator since I used an emulator that isn't outdated to test (mGBA) since I am blessed to have a PC.

    This probably goes without saying, but it wasn't clear in the original post: The base rom is fire red right?

    What decides whenever the cursor goes to the run option? Because it does not make sense to me. I was training a Barboach, encountered a Ponyta and I got run as the first option. Next, I found a Pidgey (I only had Mud Slap) and it didn't go to run automatically? What gives?

    I recall enjoying Fire Red Omega years ago, so it's nice to see it get an update. I'd appreciate knowing what changes were made to stats and move pools and whatnot. The starters clearly have altered moves if anything. I'm also wondering if its possible to change natures, IVs, etc. in game. Maybe the game isn't hard enough for that stuff to be necessary?

    I wish there was proper documentation for some things cause I have no clue how to find certain legendaries or how to unlock certain things.

    Same. I've found the Regis, Mew, The dogs, latias, emerald legendaries and a few others. But can't see ho-oh when I make it to the top of the tower and still can't access cerulean cave even though I completed e4 and sevii islands. Some clues would be nice.
