Today I went to GameStop, and I noticed a copy of Pokémon Crystal in the used GB section. However, this copy was different from the rest. It had a gray GameBoy cartridge (not GBC, and not blue w/ sparkles). I also could not find Nintendo's golden seal on it anywhere. Just for fun, I purchased the game. When I got home, I tried playing it, and it seemed to be identical to my real Crystal version. Do you think the Crystal version I bought today was a fake?

Someone might have disassembled the original Crystal and put it in something else. Either that, or they wanted to make Crystal more compatible by allowing it to be on the Game Boy (Provided that it can fit into a Game Boy). Most likely it is a fake, unless it's some strange prototype Nintendo doesn't want us to know about...which I doubt.

It's either a fake or the real game slapped into some other cartridge. Nevertheless, you have Crystal and that's that. P

This happened with my saphire, it was grey instead of blue and it couldn't save so if you can't save it's fake.

It's a fake. I doubt someone's switched the contents. They've probably just uploaded the rom and sold it off.

I've never seen that kinda stuff where I live. :/

It probably is fake, so maybe you should take it back...or keep it for the heck of it! O.o

It's a pirated copy, sweetie, so yeah it's fake. Have ya tried to see if ya can transfer data from it to PKMN Stadium 2?

thats sucks they need to check if the game there taking works first otherwise this happens >.>

If you can't save its fake.
Not necersarrily, I have detailed why below
I can save, but sometimes my file gets deleted for no reason.
The internal battery of the cartridge has run dry, more information found in another post I have written:
Im going to explain this predicament now. Old games, from 2nd gen and previous, run off of internal batteries inside the cartridge when it comes to saving. Since these games were made back in 2000 they've long expired. This means save files often run out. Fore more info on buying replacements go here for compatable batteries.

It's probably a fake but I have a ruby version like it. I cracked open the casing of it by accident and I couldn't play it. So I got a GBA cartridge casing off of eBay and put the Ruby version in the new, gray cartridge.
