Im playing Pokemon Firered so I made a team in showdown so I don't pour levels in a bad Pokemon, Is this a bad team? Please add suggestions if you have any.
Preface: Could put together a team of most Pokemon and be perfectly fine. Does not need to follow any of this advice.
Parasect: Recommends dropping Aromatherapy. Just use an item to heal. Only becomes useful if 2+ Pokemon have status on them.
Understands trying to fix its Speed to toss out Spores before the opponent acts. Has the same base Speed as Slowbro, though. Would be better off investing in your defenses if you plan to stall. (Like...is it going to live long enough to wake up from Rest? Does not exactly have the best stats or typing for stalling either, with 6 weaknesses.) Also runs into the potential problem of your stall going wrong because of Effect Spore triggering paralysis or something.
One idea for a stall set: Spore, Substitute, Double Team (while the opponent is asleep), then Toxic. Kind of recommends against it unless you really want to use Parasect. Takes forever to pull off, given status heals on major trainers.
If not married to Parasect: maybe consider someone like Tauros? For something earlier, if you want help with Misty, think about Butterfree. Has 97.5% accurate Sleep Powders, thanks to Compoundeyes, and a much more useable Speed stat (same as Magneton and Poliwrath).
Charizard: Advises switching out Steel Wing for Dragon Claw. Uses your Special stat, unlike Steel Wing. Likely rarely wants to use Steel Wing. Hits Rock-types super-effectively, which you do not want Charizard to face, and Ice types, which Fire works against. Picks up the Dragon Claw TM super late, as a downside. Could use Steel Wing until then.
Poliwrath: Seems fine.
Exeggutor: Questions Explosion here. Would rather have Giga Drain, despite its low PP. Depends a little less on Sunny Day. Extends Exeggutor's life. Also allows you to take a negative Attack nature instead of losing some Special Defense.
Magneton: Will not hit that hard with Hyper Beam with base 60 Attack (same as Spearow, but no same-type attack bonus). Hits about twice as hard with Thunder than Hyper Beam. Would be better off using Thunder over Hyper Beam, even if resisted (assuming equal defenses). Advises Thunderbolt to be less strapped for Electric PP, plus no set up turn for Rain Dance. Just switch out if you face a Ground type.
Finds the Hitpoint + Speed EV combination odd. Invests in Hitpoints if you plan to take damage and Speed if you want to avoid taking damage (by moving first). Go with Hitpoints + Special Attack or Speed + Special Attack. Might as well pick a negative Attack nature too.
Nidoking: No issues. Could consider Strength over Thrash to have that in the party without switching someone out. Cannot recall berries being very common. (May be wrong on that.) Potentially makes Thrash less valuable.
