4th Gen Is there a way

Yes, but only if you nature breed. Here's how you do it:

Put two compatible Pokemon in the Daycare Center. Make sure the female has the same nature as the one you want. (example, if you want a bold nature, make sure the female has a bold nature). Ok, this might take a while, but you need to get a bunch of eggs from the Daycare man. Hatch them all, and try to find one with the same nature. There is a 4% chance this will happen, but it does happen. Have faith :P. After you do this, take the Pokemon with the nature you wanted (make sure it's female) and equip it with an everstone. Breed it the same way. Now the eggs will have a 50% chance of being the same nature. This takes a while, and it's a pain, but you now have a Pokemon you can breed over and over again who's eggs have a 50% chance of being the nature you want them to be. :P I know this doesn't make much sense, but it's 11:45 here, and I'm really tired. PM me if you need any more help, or need me to clear anything up for ya :)

Sincerely,
Motsuko Live

There is no way to know, but if you give the mother an Everstone, the baby will have the same nature as the mother.

I think this is something that you're looking for. Basically, just switch between a caught pokemon and an egg while in the box and you may get a sneak peak at the egg's nature.

To be more specific, place the egg in the top left slot of say box 11, then put a pokemon (I use a zubat) in the top left of either box 10 or 12 move to the zubat and count the hand bouncing up and down 8 times then hit L or R depending on the direction of the egg and it will show VERY quickly the nature. It serves little purpose though, since you still have to hatch them anyway...

Not necessarily. If you save before taking the eggs, then you can check their natures and reset if it is nothing you want, and repeat the process.
It saves time with Pokémon that have a long hatch time, like Eevee, as you won't have to go through countless unwanted natures.

halcyonXIII, how did you hatch an Eevee that was shiny?

You really went through hatching all those eggs to get a shiny Eevee?....well, if you think about it, it is worth it because you can get seven different shinies from Eevee from all its evolutions.

Your poetry is pretty good.

anyway. to answer the original question: use the everstone on the mother and there will be a 50 percent chance her baby will have her nature. save right before the egg hatches and you can restart in case its still not the right nature.
