I was playing a battle on the wifi once. After I had stopped I noticed that my Pal pad had been entirely erased and that my own friend code had changed somehow.

are you sure you didnt erase them change your internet settings get a new DS that reconfigured the settings or anything like that?

wow, didn't know changing a DS once could do that. I let my friend borrow the game for a day to check IVs by battling on Wifi, so he used his mom's DS. It hasn't changed back though

Yeah. The DS is what keeps track of your Internet Stuff. Better only use One DS per Cart.
Which is pretty rediculous if you ask me. If it can store Internet settings and stuff, why doesn't it store other things? Like the friend code could be stored in the DS itself instead of the DS/cart combo. That'd make it easier because then you'd only have to register once, and you're set for life. Or your DS's life if you should outlive it.

But Nintendo's pretty new to the online scene, so can we blame them?

No, it is fine... I use my Sister's. Perhaps you removed the Internet settings? Or changed your settings on that DS? I changed mine on purpose once.

    1. Remove Settings from your DS.
    2. Get another DS.
    3. Add Internet options to that DS. (Game inserted)
    4. Remove from DS.
    5. Put in your DS.
    6. Add Internet options to that DS. (Game inserted)
    7. Log onto Wifi.

There, now it should have changed.

Nintendo is not new to the online scene if you ask me, because the first game to have Wifi was Mario Kart, and that was way back in 2005. D/P was released in late 2006, and thats a 1 year difference, so I don't really think so.
