I really don't understand IV Breeding. I've read FinalLegacy's guide over and over again but I still don't understand.

You see, I have a Scyther that's Level 54 and another that's 52. I tried breeding them together but the offspring turned out to have only 7/6/6/6/5/7.

Would anyone be kind of enough to explain this thoroughly?

maybe because the parents have low Ivs
    they inherit stats
but they can also develop their own
so get stronger parents and keep trying

Alright, thanks for clearing that up. But just one thing, how do I get stronger parents? All my Scythers have like over 80 Stats.

You catch them. Check their IVs....
Wait... Those stats you posted... were those IVs or the actual stats?!?!?
As well, you can only get accurate IVs at level 100. So go on a WiFi Battle with someone, and have levels set to 100. Write down the stats. Check the IVs.

alright thanks. =]. no no no. of course they're not ivs. their the actual stats.

Well, then, you need to check the actual IVs. Of COURSE they seem low. A bulbasaur with an IV of 31 in a stat may only have 6-7 in that stat at lv 1. You need to use an IV calculator, combined with an IV battle.

Sorry for asking a question o this thread, even though I didn't make it, but its around the same thing.

I have a Jolteon, that I EV trained in HP, does that mean, if I breed it, the offspring will have a good HP IV or does the Ditto I breed it with have to have a good HP IV too?

EVs wont affect the IVs in the offspring. I dont know exactly how they get passed down, but i know EVs won't affect the offspring's IVs

You have to breed to keep getting stronger and stronger pokemon. So say you have two scyther with low IVS, breed them until you get a baby with higher IVS than both the parents. If it's male breed it with the female with the highest IVS and vice-versa. Every time you breed you will get pokemon with low and high IVs based on luck and the parents'. So every time you get one with higher IVs replace it in the breeding chain. This takes forever and if you are messy it fills up your boxes fast
