6th Gen Just got this game, so newby questions

This is my first game since gen II about 15 years ago. So I have some really bad questions.

* Do you still get to catch as many Pokemon as you wish?
* Are all the Pokemon in this game? Or at least all the first gen pokemon?
* Is there online battling with random people who are not your friend?
* Can I beat this game with relatively no knowledge on the deeper statistics system?

This really belongs more in Quick Questions and Answers, but I'm gonna answer it anyway.

Yup! It'd be dumb if they changed that.

* Are all the Pokemon in this game? Or at least all the first gen pokemon?

No, but you can get all the pokémon if you also get X/Y.

* Is there online battling with random people who are not your friend?

Yes, you can go on Battle Spot on the PSS and you can fight anyone there.

* Can I beat this game with relatively no knowledge on the deeper statistics system?

Nope, you don't need to know any of that. It is a bit easier now that Super Training exists though.
