So, what do you do with leftover change? Do you save it in a jar? Do you let the employees keep it? Do you donate when needed?

We usually save up our change. It comes in handy when we run dry of funds. It's not much, but it's enough for little things like a gallon of milk or eggs though. It depends on the amount of quarters as well.

So, what do you do with your change?

It's in a little pot that I dip into every time the laundry day comes around. I also use it if I know I'm only going to buy something of very little value. Though I once found I had around 20€ stored up. It was quite the day; I spoiled myself on a cake haha

I'm not sure if things works the same here and in other parts of the world. There are places and shops here that forbids the employees from receiving tips, for example like convenient stores. In those cases I just keep and save the change in my tiny jar. If I happen to have that jar with me while I'm out, usually the coins are given to either a street beggar or donated to the charity box.

For those places that accept tips like the restaurants, I'll just leave the change to the server. :)

I'll keep anything unless it's just pennies. Pennies are bullshit.

Same here with me. A lot of the times the change saved up would be used for a couple grocery items or perhaps a small snack. The quarters are often used for bus rides and laundry too.

I actually saved up my change for an entire year once and had ~$150 in just quarters, dimes, and nickles! though it was such a pain to count and roll hhaha

When I was much younger I kept change and stuff that I would find, and I think my parents would give me quarters every once in a while to save up in a little piggy bank thing.

I dont really buy stuff, and when I do, its online. I do keep the change, and I a little box thing I keep it in.

Since I don't really buy a lot of things, I usually just keep whatever change I get in my wallet. It comes in handy when I'm buying something small and don't want to break a bigger bill.

For the most part, any change I get tends to just kind of hang around where I initially put it. Like, take it out of my pocket, I put it on my desk, and it's probably going to stay there for a while. If it gets knocked around and scattered about, oh well.

(Not that I've had change in a while since I don't tend to buy things with cash, but...)

For the times I'm not lazy about change though, I have a ceramic jar that I've been putting change into for years. It hasn't gotten much put into it lately because....well, see my comment above, but it's still managed to collect quite a bit of change. I don't remember even the general amount in dollars that's in that jar, but it was more than I would have thought last time I counted.

All I could think of was this:

    Spoiler:
Oh great, now I have the desire to go watch Home Alone. :(

I usually just tell them to keep the change unless it's there's more than 50 cents or so. If I have change then I keep it in the little change section of my wallet until I use it.

YES! I have three piggy banks in my room actually - a little cat one, a cupcake, and a big Pikachu actually lol. I've been saving change for years and I usually take it in once the piggy bank starts getting heavy, my credit union has a change counting machine that doesn't have any fees if it's <$50, but even then the fee is only like 3% because I'm a member.

DONT LET THE EMPLOYEES KEEP THE CHANGE BECAUSE THEN THEIR DRAWER IS OVERSHORT AND ITS A BITCH TO FIGURE OUT AT THE END OF THE NIGHT WHEN I WORK ON PUTTING THE BANK DEPOSIT TOGETHER. TAKE YOUR FUCKING CHANGE AND GIVE IT TO THE HOMELESS.

back in highschool me and my friends had this change jar we would pool all of our coins in and every few weeks we would cash the earnings in for smokes. good times man

I keep loose change in my wallet and use them instead of notes for payment to get rid of them. If my brother is around, I'll give them to him because he likes coins and I don't.

    Spoiler:
That really reminds me of Home Alone for some reason

I normally carry the bigger coins around with me, while keeping the pennies in a little piggy bank. Last time around I had managed to save up £25 after two years just from 1p, 2p and 5p coins so that was nice.

That's where I got it from haha

One of my favourite things that happened in the last few years was Canada getting rid of pennies, because now I never have to deal with useless change anymore. Everything I get back is at least slightly useful.

I keep change in my wallet until it starts to get too heavy and then I take everything out that isn't quarters, loonies, or toonies and start over. I keep all the stuff I take out in a giant Coke can piggy bank (of course) but admittedly I haven't actually checked how much I have in there... ever? I've had it for several years. Occasionally I'll pull change out if I just wanna go buy a snack at the convenience store, but for the most part it's untouched. I finally bought paper coin rolls recently though, so I'm excited to find out how much is in there when I finally get off my ass to count and roll everything!

I have a little jar full of coins. It's been sitting for a while now, so I bet there's a good amount in there. It used to fill up faster, but I started using my debit card for most of my purchases, so I don't get a lot of change anymore. If it's full, I'll normally treat myself to something small like a few Magic cards, or something sweet to eat. I can't accept tips where I work, so I don't have to worry about that, haha.
