    If I were to get more RAM, would everything be deleted on my computer?

    I just wanted to know, because my computer is really REALLY slow, and my friend says it's because my computer has really low RAM.

    And the lagging-ness is really frustrating me now. But before I get more RAM, I just needed to know if everything on here will be wiped clean so then I can save everything on a external hard-drive. So yeah. ^^;;

    nope. RAM is one of those components that is emptied whenever you shut down your computer. By upgrading your RAM you are only adding to the amount your system ca use. If your computer is slowing down, you may want to run your anti spyware/adware as well as check your startup programs in MSCONFIG
    (the only component of your computer that, if replaced or upgraded, would cause you to lose all data would be your hard drive.)

    Well Gerri Shin answered this, but I'd just like to say that a slower processor can also limit a computer's speed.

    That only really applies if it's <500 MHz. I was running Win XP on a 350 MHz computer and it was still an alright pace.

    The only issue with getting more RAM is knowing the appropriate type you need and the cost of it (i.e. DDR is more expensive than DDR2.)
