Well, me and Kila. decided it was about time to post something from Lost Shore(it remained untitled until now, actually)
So, without further ado:
By Kila. & Manaphy1128
Heather stared out the window. Oh, how she despised car rides. And camping trips. And her sister, Whitney, who was constantly moving around next to her, shoving her elbow into Heathers ribs.
She'd expected all of this, though. Her family had camped before, in a large tent, somewhere in the wilderness. All their camping trips consisted of three things : Whiny Whitney, mosquitoes, and, of course, the occasional furry forest critter that ran by the tent.
Heather grumbled, glancing at her parents, who were having a heated discussion about their tent location. Heather rolled her eyes, then looked out the window again. They were driving up a mountain now, climbing higher and higher in circles. Heather imagined Whitney walking up the mountain, and chuckled evilly.
Her mother, who was quite the backseat driver, commanded her father to turn right and left, left and right.
Whitney elbowed Heather again.
Heather stuck her head up between her parents' seats. They both turned to look at her.
"Can you stop yelling so loud? I have a headache," Heather lied, eager for silence.
Her mother smiled, and for the first time, Heather noticed the wrinkles in her face. Her dad smiled as well.
"I'm sorry, honey, I'll try--"
Whitney screamed, cutting off all conversation. They were about to hit--
Heather fell back into her seat, and her mother screamed too.
Their car hit the fence at the edge of the cliff. The windows shattered around the family, showering them with small shards of glass.
Heather pushed Whitney towards the door.
"Go!" she yelled.
Immediately dropping her MP3, Whitney grabbed the handle and pushed all her weight on it.
C'mon, open.
It opened wide allowing both girls to scramble out, them then seeing their parents hurry out too.
Her father grabbed the car, trying to haul it back up.
"Let it go Dad!" Whitney called. "Or you'll go down with it!"
He obediently let go as the car tumbled down, breaking the fence on its way.
"Now what?"Heather asked.
"We go the 10 mile hike-" Whitney started.
"It's actually only a mile to the spot we picked.
"We don't have any of our things except our bags. That's limited food, no tent, no matches, no first aid kit, no-'
"We get it. We lost a lot of supplies. Now let's make the most of what we have left."
After a minute more talking, they headed off.
"That was totally bogus." Whitney said, using her favorite word.
"You, are bogus" Heather replied.
Whitney glared at her.
"Now can we stop-"
"Look!" Whitney explained. She was pointing to a Bear cub that was only a few yards away....and its mother was with it.
"CUE MOVING FORWARD!" Heather said as they all started moving ahead.
Too bad they did.
*********************************************
The family stayed close together, her father in the front of the line, Heather in the back of the line.
Her legs ached already. Whitney whined about wearing sandals, but her mother pointed out that they all were.
"... So!" Whitney retorted, then sulked.
Heather stopped to catch her breath, leaning on the rocks that lined the road. What a trip this turned out to be.
She looked up the path - her family had already vanished from view. She rolled her eyes, then stood and awkwardly ran up the road, eager to catch up.
She decided to make a game - She walked to the other side of the road, walking on the edge of the cliff. She looked for their car, but found nothing.
Suddenly, she saw something move on the cliff below. She froze, her heart thundering in her chest. Heather leaned further over the edge of the cliff, and caught a glimpse of dark blue robe, billowing out behind...
... a person?
Heather gasped, as the rock beneath her cracked, sending small rocks tumbling down the steep cliff. Then she fell silent again.
The cloaked figure froze, slowly looked around, then took off running down the rocks.
'Wow. They're really fast,' Heather thought as the figure reached the bottom of the cliffs and ran into the forest and out of sight.
Heather breathed a sigh of relief, and stood up straight again.
And that's when the rock gave.
The cliff beneath her crumbled. Heather fell, and, without even the time to scream, she hit the cliff beneath her, then slid further and further down the mountain until she hit the ground below.
She grabbed at a tree, standing up shakily. A sharp pain shot up her leg, and she winced, falling back to the ground.
She lay on her back, looking at the trees overhead.
And then Heather fell asleep.
