I think you did a good job drawing Charmander! You also did a good job showing how much Heart cares for her!

you know.... i've been thinking that i would make expressions for heart... :3 & i'm gonna either use liko for those, since she's more recent....
or i could use one of the other pokegirls... or all of them...🤷‍♂️

yeah, i'm gonna use all of them...it'll give me more options : D (misty, may, dawn, iris, serena, bonnie?, mallow, lana, lillie, chloe (pokemon journeys) & verity? (m20) & prehaps Dot ... when her eyes are visible under her hair...horizons) )



also, it'll give me a reason to watch pokemon again, in eng sub on the ones i can.. there are a lot of episodes/movies in sub ... AND dub ... (also on the ones i can where i can't watch the sub on those episodes).... all from s1 onwards (minus the cgi pokemon the first movie... i can't work with that one) plus i can give her open eyes

(i changed the dialogue just a bit to have 'fur', instead of hair... since... well, i looked it up.. & flies do actually have little bits of fur : o
& the eng subtitles in the episode is the same, while in the eng dub, it has a little bit more, with ''don't be silly'' , but more or less it's the same :3 so i'd probably have to think of something else for her to say ... i don't know what, though : o )

& yeah, hair combs & brushes exist in her world... the handles of the hair brushes & the combs are made of hard wood :3

also speaking of paprika's world:

these are known as jelly filled donuts in her world
..... oh.... correct me if i'm misremembering, but didn't you say that you haven't seen any episode of pokemon?.... if so, then you probably wouldn't get that reference, right? 🤷‍♂️ in the eng dub of the anime, s1 episode 025: 'primeape goes bananas', brock called ''rice balls'' jelly filled donuts... : o it's really a umeboshi onigiri (pickled plum rice ball)....

honestly, i really didn't even think about it way back then... it was before i knew that it was originally japanese 😮

Ooookay, so my laptop restarted itself and it wiped everything I'd already typed out, which is what caused this to take even longer... >.> So I re-added just the parts that I felt I had something meaningful to actually say about them as a means of speeding this up (and not further burning myself out trying to remember and retype the full thing). It's not as long as the older one, but at least now I can respond in general more often.

you know.... i must make a ''slayers eng sub vs eng dub - side to side'' video with lightworks one of these days... but with the sub muted one episode per video.... i don't think i could handle doing such a big video for each season :o

I suspect the only reason that doesn't exist by a series fan already is (and it might somewhere online to be fair) because of fear of uploading the whole series online somewhere and getting in trouble for it. Comparison videos like that are really cool though, especially for people who are really into version differences! :p

I would suggest either her ears or her tail. Those seem like common things animals in stories seem sensitive about.

Ah, okay! I've heard of a camera 'panning' before, but this was the first time I've ever seen 'pan up'. Cool to know! And that person was right, you did a good job 'capturing her energy' with that art.

also, there's such a thing as a guardian in dnd balder's gate 3... & slayers is loosely based on dnd :3 so i guess it's that kind of ''guardian''?

So he's her bodyguard, then. Strange how someone as powerful as her has a bodyguard haha.

I think you did a good job on her teeth here, they don't need to be a 1 to 1 copy of Lina's after all. :p

just.... i've watched slayers so many times...(the sub, 3 & a half times... that being the seasons when i started, then the 2nd time, i watched it starting with the ovas & first 4 movies in sub & then going around again , starting with the ovas again in sub.... eng dub, twice)

It's very clear to anyone who sees this that you really do love Slayers! That's super cool honestly, that you have a series like this you like so much. ^^

Cause sometimes you just need a gloomy character in your story to add some extra flavor to the cast!

another thing i've learnt: teeth that show when mouth is opened, are difficult to draw not the fang teeth, though... they're easy

Yeah, teeth, hands and feet are known to be some of the hardest parts to draw, so getting them to look even decently nice is pretty tough to do. (not the fangs though, like you said)

Corn dogs are all over the place here in the US. I've had many when I was younger, but not really anymore. Cool that Saria likes 'em! :p

A lot of longer running stories have some item or change to the main character part-way through to mix things up. I really like the idea of doing something like that for Paprika too, and this (looks more like a belt to me) bracelet looks perfect for that!

might i say ''the same currency as the ''slayers'' world''... it has the same sorta money

Might I suggest making 2 kinds of currency instead? You can use the same system (one that's actually pretty common in fantasy settings), but you might want to make it so there's two different sizes, one for the larger characters, one for the smaller like Paprika. Why? Try to think of a gold coin that would fit in the paw of a lion for example, it would need to be of decent size for the lion to be able to hold it without it slipping out of its grip. But a coin that size would be (realistically) about the same size as Paprika herself, and even if you wanted to say that all the smaller animals are bigger in this universe, they'd never reasonably reach the same size as a lion. It would make more sense to have 'coins' be for big animals and 'flakes' or 'chips' be for smaller ones. But this is only a suggestion.

I'm glad to hear you decided to stick with her current look. Going with one closer to Slayers, while perhaps easier, would make it less 'your project with your characters your way' in my opinion. Plus I lik her eyes the way they are now, would look odd if they suddenly changed.

I think you did well with her lower body here as well. The angle for where she's standing isn't the easiest to draw either.

Mmmh, yeah, I see what you mean. I think it's just that she's usually slimmer in the upper body, so her proportions are different than normal and it makes her look 'off'.

I'm glad to hear you decided to stick with her current look.

Going with one closer to Slayers, while perhaps easier, would make it less 'your project with your characters your way' in my opinion. Plus I like her eyes the way they are now, would look odd if they suddenly changed.

Aw, I liked her neck fluff... Was always a really neat extra detail that really stood out to me. Reminded me of some of the older cartoons I used to watch cause it felt like that extra detail that's not seen much anymore. And she is an adorable mouse indeed! ^^

(i changed the dialogue just a bit to have 'fur', instead of hair... since... well, i looked it up.. & flies do actually have little bits of fur : o
& the eng subtitles in the episode is the same, while in the eng dub, it has a little bit more, with ''don't be silly'' , but more or less it's the same :3 so i'd probably have to think of something else for her to say ... i don't know what, though : o )

She's kindly brushing the fur of a fly... Well, at least someone likes him hahaha

& yeah, hair combs & brushes exist in her world... the handles of the hair brushes & the combs are made of hard wood :3

i've heard that before he choose lina to be the main girl in slayers, he was gonna use a girl named ''luna'' .... but ended up not doing that.... & that's how luna as lina's big sister, never got to show up physically in the series... though, she shows up in the opening of next only, too... & mentioned by filia & the elder dragons... as the knight of Ceifeed... in s3 ep 7, i think...
