let's start this here and end this now
    Magic:
    history: [Kenny's Edit] 11 to 12 years
what it's based on: Dungeons and Dragons[/edit]

why it's so popular:it's been here for such a long time that it was bound to get popular
    positives:there are different types for example:type 1,extended,type 1.5,type 2 [edit] (known as standard)[/edit].
negatives:if not experienced this game can be **** for you [edit]he meant complex rulings[/edit]
rules:you and your opponent start out with 20, and the first one that can bring it down to 0 wins the game, you must win the game at least twice to win a match, a match consists of 3 games (it ends if someone wins the match twice repeatedly)
    type of cards:artifacts,sorcery,instant,creatures,enchantments
    VS
    Yugioh:
history: [edit] 2 years in America, approximately 7 in Japan[/edit]
what it's based on: [edit] an original manga that's based on a card game[/edit]
why it's so popular:come on,a tv show with a card game, who wouldn't wanna play that?
positives:lots of new sets,(i played both english and japanese)
negatives:is going down fast, and once again if you are not experienced this game can be **** for you [edit]generally easier rulings. Not as many clashes between existing cards.[/edit]
rules:you and your opponent start with 8000 life, and the first one that can bring it down to 0 wins the game, you must win the game at least twice to win a match, a match consists of 3 games (it ends if someone wins the match twice repeatedly)
types of cards:creatures, spells, traps [edit] there are types for each type of card, similar to magic[/edit]

i choose magic because magic has a longer history and it's based off a card game Magic is gonna die however not any time soon,YGO will die out just like how rural people play pokemon
    i assure you
    you can have my word
that YGO will die before Magic does

so now your trying to make a hate thread against yugioh since your "bird" ot taken down. I've seen hundreds more yugioh players than magic at local card shops, and I'm willing to bet it will stay that way. Your right, magic is old. But the twenty yeayr old mane does not die before the eighty year old. Age does things to a game, and it's not make it better. And pokemon is still going on strong too, and is actually making a comeback. I even see more pokemon players than magic. I know what you're trying to prove, and it won't work. Yugioh will not be gone anytime soon, and will probably outlive magic in teh long run. Not having anything against magic, I'm just looking at chronology here.

i dunno what your talking about
    hundreds more my ***
    only little kids play that
LIKE OMG BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON
    OMFG I WANT THAT CARD
people you have my word that ygo is gonna die like pokemon
    Pogiforce-14
you just said YGO can outlive magic
can you give me your word on that
no i don't think you can because it's not going to happen
i CAN give my word that Magic will live longer than YGO

actually at least i'm not a freak who's 17 years old who still plays games like YGO
honestly i would think that your 5 years old
and you say my age or older
    so 13 or older
wow you must live in a really ghetto town
are they all dumb like you?
or are you the only one that behaves so immaturely

I do live in a ghetto town, it's called P-town, and that is why for that reason if they heard you, these guys that are like twenty and thirty and everyone else, would pummel you straight into the ground. Now you're just being a diragatory little smart mouth and should quit with the name calling before you get banned. I will report you if necessary.

IMO opinion its magic, but not by far.
The thing that I think every one enjoys about YGO to Magic is its simplicity...I played YGO a about a year ago, so forgive me if things have changed with YGO, But I enjoyed it most because of the easy rules. Now with Magic, its a little harder, but that iis also what makes it more fun too. Magic just seems to have the edge over YGO with its experiance and time its been out.

Pokemon never really entierly died out, I know alot of people who play Pokemon and YGO who are older than Poji. I still play Pokemon. Age of a person does not affect the person playing a game if they like it they can still play. I have played Magic before and got into it and within about three months I got bored with it and I still played Pokemon, and don't say that it is a childish game because it takes more than rare crds to win you have to think before you act, and that is proved because Haymaker decks were baned. Also the age of a game does not mean anything yes Magic has survived more than a decade beyond anyone expectations and is still very popular, but the infectious Yu-Gi-Oh has kept my intrest and so has Pokemon. So if anyone is a baby and imiture it is you Blasty for numorus statements say that someone is too old for a game and that is not true, if they like it then let them play it. So just keep the comments to yourself about Poji, because if anyone is a freak it is you, you are concited that you think you are the greatest and think that YGO will get boring without Yata. You are nothing but a baby. Okay I'm done teaching you a lesson! :D

...i like Magic cuz it is more of an advanced game...and the fact that the packs for much cheaper...think about it?(where i com from neways)
Yugioh booster: 5 cards for $5; 1 dollar per card (4 commons, 1 rare[with different rarities)
Magic booster: 15 cards for 3 dollars; 20 cents per card (11 commons, 3 uncommons and 1 rare)
not quite sure about decks cuz i usually dont buy theme decks

like i said a couple threads bak, i havent played fr a while...u should no...u were all there

Well it's because both series are from Wizards of the Coast, which just happens that Magic is their first project.

I personally think that magic would probably last longer due to its fanbase (I've travelled to HK, being my native country and all. Of the 7 hobbie shops I went to, 7 sold Magic and 1 sold YGO. Aside from that, the shops are HUGE, holding weekly tourneys.). Aside from the fanbase (yes, I've been talking to the gamestop owner about it, and they're admitting that YGO players are either playing BOTH games or are converting to magic players. However, they said that rarely do magic players convert to YGO players), I think the one of biggest reasons is that they have just an excellent website. It's updated daily with professional writers...sometimes with pro tourney players. We get a LOT more hype for new sets. I can't say the same with Edos, since he is the only REALLY good YGO site that I know of and he doesn't update daily.

Well I guess the biggest reason of them all is that Wizards is very steady with their release of sets (see Duel Masters), whereas Upper Deck is quite weak on the set releases, and they're starting to burn out. The lack of new cards is one of the beggest reasons why people start to drop off from YGO. There are nothing new to keep the games fresh.

btw, I'd have to say that I found quite some fun by converting some old magic multiplayer games to YGO. I might post a couple of those when I have the time.

I see. Yeah it seems that magic players tend to be isolated from other magic players and moreso to other TCG players for some reason. I didn't know magic had such a large fanbase until like a while ago.

trust me Magic is more poular than you can think of kenz
    around cali
    there's a place called Frank/Son's Collectible Shop
and in there has so many magic players
