We need more events! Yes! More! Not sure what else to do but a mapping event so here goes.

You've got up until December 6th to make your map. That gives you more than enough time to gather resources, plan your map, etc., so I expect to see everyone's maps posted! These maps will not be judged. This is a community event, not a competition.

This event starts immediately. You may start mappin'!

There are no requirements for the maps at all. You can even make 'em all silly looking if you want!

Also, feel free to post in the thread to comment on other people's maps. There's no reason this thread should just be pictures of maps.

Probably will be done very soon, as mapping isn't too difficult.

Hmm, I'm interested. I'll probably just use some default tiles I've been using in my game. As for the map, I'll have to get to it soonish. I have exams to do. I'll repost/edit when I finish.

I'll join for sure! December 6th is a long time from now. Do I have to use maps from an actuall game I'm making, or can I make one specifically for this competition?

Is there an easier way to obtain a picture of a map aside from Print Screening and pasting to paint or using the Image snippier in Windows 7? Some maps might be particularly large, and it might be too hard to get screenshots.
This is for RPG Maker XP, by the way, but the question could stand for other things too.

if he wants to use the map in his game he cant use tiled... well he can but he needs to remake the map in tiled again which is more time consuming then making a few screenshots in rpgxp and cropping them together... or he could use one of the many rpgxp "map screenshot" scripts which you can find with google... but i dont know if they will work with essentials... ^^

Map Screenshot scripts, eh? That might be interesting to use, if I'm able to find one. And yeah, recreating this map in Tiled would be a bit of a hassle, considering it's quite the large map. Couple hundred tiles in both direction.

Okay, here's my map. Nothing too big or fancy, just a 90 x 30 (not including edge of map buffers) route using some stock tiles I got from CrazyNinjaGuy's old Starter Kit project (by the way, if anyone has the actual source for those tiles, please please please let me know) plus a few I made myself. Since we probably need a title, lets call this "Seanymph Coast". You can find Pokémon such as Lotad, Wingull, Ducklett, Surskit, Hoppip, and Budew. You can't see in the picture, but there's a couple items in the harder to reach places, berries grow in the loamy soil around the northern region of the map and naturally there would be a few trainers around.
