I think this is the right place. If not, feel free to move/lock it. And I didn't see a thread of this, so if there is one, sorry.

A new Mario and Luigi game was announced, due to be released in Spring 2016.

[PokeCommunity.com] Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam

"The story begins when Luigi accidentally knocks over a book holding the Paper Mario world, releasing paper characters into the Mario & Luigi world."

Here are some screenshots (in spoilers for obvious reasons):
    Spoiler:

What do think about it? Are you going to get it? Discuss!

Although I still want a Mario x Pokémon crossover, Paper Jam is still good enough for me. It also further proves that Mario has the deepest lore out of all video game series, despite making little logical sense. The lack of Paper Luigi to fill in the X button was a missed opportunity, as it would've been a better version of Partners in Time, but I'll wait for the interview articles that tackles this issue. I wonder if we'll see any paper variations of the bosses in the Mario & Luigi world.

Hope we see Paper Luigi in some form. :V

I am looking forward to this, and feel that I need to properly and finally get to playing more M&L games before this comes out too. And heck, one of the issues with Sticker Star (lack of plot/characterisation) doesn't seem to be a worry here, so it's already looking good to me. Bowser with characterisation. Excellent.

I'm not very interested. It looks like it's Mario & Luigi with Paper Mario thrown in and I'm not a fan of the M&L games. The best one was Partners in Time but even that wasn't something I'd say was great.

I'll take a look every now and then to see what it looks like closer to release but I have no plans to spend money on this.

I'm not a fan of Dream Team...so, I am not sure.

It was given rave reviews, and usually I think critics are spot on, but in this case I completely disagreed with Dream Team reviews. The game was bogged down with lengthy and persistent tutorials that explained something pretty damn simple, I am not found of the art style (opposite of pop art), the dialogue dragged on and on, the dialogue wasn't fun...it was just annoying, the giant battle and special moves were gimmicky and take away from the quick accessible rpg design it should have been. I feel like this game from the preview might have some of those tedious mechanics making for an overcomplex design and slow pacing, with low challenge. The worst of both worlds of having an accessible casual gaming experience or for those seeking a challenge.

I also just got bored of Dream Team, and never finished, and traded in...that's pretty unusual for me, especially with a highly praised game.

I would have rather saw paper mario that was traditional with level ups and partners on either 3ds or Wii U...we still haven't got a proper game since ttyd, it's like changing the mechanics of pokemon drastically, it ruins a good thing. Even something new like a paper luigi's mansion would have been cool. (if it had a similar game mechanic)

That said, I may give it a chance.

I don't think I have even finished a Mario-Luigi game, but they are usually fun up to a point. I did like Sticker Star, even with its flaws.

I hope this game is good enough to play it all the way through.

I'm looking forward to this, personally. I'm a big fan of the Paper Mario series, however I never got to play the Mario & Luigi series. Wanted to as a kid when the original game came out and I think I played the demo at Walmart, but I barely remember it, so I just count it as not getting to play, haha. But yeah, I think this looks interesting and the dialog already looks fun and good enough to hold my interest.

i've never played any of the paper mario series so i'm not sure if i will be getting this. i've played other mario games though!

I might get this. It depends on how well other players like it. Like the Dark Avenger pointed out, professional critics liked Dream Team, but I've seen other regular players call the game boring and tedious to play, and I agreed with them. (I might not have finished Dream Team, but I'm just going to keep the game because I have the rest of the Mario&Luigi games.)

Actually, since I have the rest of the series, I might as well get it just to have a complete set.

Never played a Paper Mario game, which I regret. So I don't know how this will compare to those. I just hope that whatever problems were in Dream Team, they fixed with this game.

According to user reviews from metacritic, that's not the case. The only people I know who call it boring and tedious to play are from /v/ and reddit, whose opinions should be taken with a grain of salt. But yes, trusting critic reviews won't do you any good. Just look at the Wonderful 101 for example, the user reviews call it a masterpiece, but the critic reviews found it average.

On metacritic, many positive reviewers, if not the majority of them, mentioned the tutorials/dialogue or hand holding as a negative. I think for players like me that like accessible games with a challenge you can get right into, it's a hard sell. Whereas those with more patience/time didn't mind it. There is a bit more division on whether the story/dialogue was actually good...I found it to be pretty bad compared to how much text there was to read. Funny and nonsense dialogue is GREAT, but not if it's drawn out.

Also, I work full-time, and if I am exhausted, the last thing I want to do is listen to meaningless dialogue/tutorials. For others, they may have been less annoyed, and able to enjoy the better aspects of the game more.

That said, I will wait and see before I order this game...I have low expectations, but I am not completely deterred.

Found my copy of Bower's Inside Story. The Chain Chawfull K.O.ed me like 5 times before I got the hang of it. And after that the game was fun.
So I will finish this before the new one comes out.

I have heard that out of the first three games the second is the weakest (but still fun), and that the third (Bowser's Inside Story) is great fun. Any opinions on those from those better familiar with the M&L series? I've only into the second area/segment of the first one and that was a while ago, so I'd like to know which I should play (keeping in mind all the other games in my backlog... oi).

Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story are both great if you ask me. Though, I personally prefer the latter.

My first introduction to the M&L series was Bowser's Inside Story, and after playing the rest in the series, I still find it the best one. The story was good, the dialogue interesting and funny, and the different ways to do battle were seamlessly put into the game. Plus, there's no weird gimmicks to those.

I also enjoyed Partners In Time, but I'm a sucker for time-travel stories and Baby Luigi. The added challenge of having four characters to sometimes control in battle was great to have, because it kept battles interesting without being too difficult.

Superstar Saga felt a little rough around the edges. It's still a decent game, though. I don't really remember much about it. Except that the final boss was a pain to take down. So I never completed the game because of how difficult that battle is.

But Bowser's Inside Story was the game that I had the most fun playing. I'd recommend that one more than any of the others in the series.
