Lots of Pokemon games throughout the history of the franchise have had mini-games of all kinds. One of the earlier examples is Pokemon Stadium, which had a bunch of really fun mini-games like Clefairy Says and Magikarp Splash. Mini-games have also been present in the main series, with the PokeAthlon in HG/SS and the PokeTransfer in B/W/BW2.

Do you spend a lot of time playing mini-games in Pokemon games, or are they something you tend not to pay much attention to? Which ones are some of your favorites?

I usually don't pay much attention to them at all except for one (dunno if it counts as a mini-game though :P). Pokemon Contests in OR/AS really caught my attention because the game pretty much made you. I'm glad it did though since I would never have tried it out otherwise! I really like the animations and it's just such a fun min-game! I spent more hours than i should've playing it though xD

I love Pokéstar Studios, it's such a cool idea for you to be a movie star along with your pokémon and I love doing it even if the reward is kinda underwhelming. I'm supposed to have millions of pokébucks, dammit! Another one I like is Pokémon Contests but that's more because of the anime. If I had the chance to compete in an anime-style contest I'd totally do it.

By the way, has anyone here played the Surfing Pikachu minigame in Pokémon Yellow? It's really freaking hard to get unless you glitch the game and even then it's kinda complicated but I've seen footage of it and it looks fun enough.

I'd say going to Pokémon Contests and the Game Corner in RSE were worthwhile.
^ This; iirc the roulette tables have not appeared with any other games than RSE.

Relay Run from the Pokeathlon is my all-time favorite, since it's also the Track and Field event that I enjoy competing in the most :) Ring Drop and Goal Roll are good fun as well. When it's a good day, the Voltorb Flip at the game corner in HG/SS was very rewarding too. Generally, I only play mini-games when I'm bored and there is nothing to do, but if there is a reward/unlockable available, I'll work towards it when not training or exploring.

Gimme prizes or don't have them **** it yo. PokéAthlon was the only thing I did because prizes. Well, and the EV training stuff, I go for that. That ****'s hard tho. But yeah immediate gratification or screw it.

I had completely forgotten about the Game Corners! I was so disappointed when they got scrapped because"gambling is baaaaaaaaaad". I really liked them and I remember spending hours in the Goldenrod Game Corner when I first went in (ah... this is probably why gambling is bad xD).

I also enjoyed Super Training a lot! It's a nice way to EV train and it's certainly a lot less boring!

I really love mini-games of all sorts in Pokemon. It gives me something somewhat mindless and fun to do that is a break from what I normally do during a Pokemon game.

Semi tangent, but I really wish that the Two Island Game Corner games could be played one-player. I actually did play them two player because I had a second Gameboy Advance that I usually used for trading. I played the Jump Rope game and really like it. Too bad most people probably didn't get to play it. :(

I really love the Amie games. I play those often!

I really, really despise the Pokemon Transfer mini game in Gen 5. I dislike it so much that I go out of my way to avoid using it. Pal Park was okay because you had a guarantee, but that archery game was terrible. I wouldn't be so against it if I could still transfer all of the Pokemon.
