Basically as the title says, is there any cases where you feel as if you were sure about something to do with what type does what, but turns out you were wrong?

As for me, I'm still certain Ice resists Normal. I mean Rock and Metal resist Normal so why not Ice. But for some reason I remember hearing that Ice cannot resist anything other than itself. I'm seriously going to look it up later.

Somehow I keep on forgetting how Bug and Poison interact with each other.

I keep forgetting that Ghost is immune, and not resistant, to Normal.

It's gotten to the point where it used to be a repeating brick joke in an RP I'm in.

, and this combination is just so common I keep thinking it's a single type.

Word. This happens sometimes with Rock/Ground too although the matchups are less wut-inducing.

I get confused on pokemon with the same type since sometimes and how they interact with hemselves. Does rock resist rock? It would seem like it would because two rocks hitting each other is just asking for trouble! But it seems that they don't and are neutral. *tears out my hair and cries* I'm confused!

I really hope I'm not the only one that, up until a few years ago, thought Bug resisted Grass for some reason?

... *blinks* Wait, bug doesn't resist it? Really? It can't be... No. My life is a lie.

This happened on another place in PC, actually, and I do not know why it is the case: Fairy types resist Bug. I also keep thinking Fire is SE on Bugs (even though it's not), for some reason.
But... Fire IS super effective on the Bug type. Maybe you used a Fire type attack on a Bug/Rock type or something...?

I agree that Rock v Rock would make sense to be not very effective, but oh well.

For some reason I just can't seem to remember that Dark is weak to Bug. It just.. always slips my mind. I also keep forgetting that Incineroar isn't Fire/Fighting. :/

While I usually remember it now, I used to think that Steel was weak to Electric. When I was really new to Pokemon, I always thought Ice was weak to Water, but I also thought it resisted Grass.

The biggest thing I still forget now are the differences between Rock and Ground types. I mean, for me that just feel like the same thing.

Fair because I mean look at it...it's like they were originally intending to make it fire/fighting but copped out and made it dark at the last minute to appeal everyone not wanting it to be fighting. It's still a wrestler.

I can never remember if it's ice that's resistant against water, or water that's resistant against ice.
And for some reason I have it in my mind that poison should be weak to fire. Like, you know, garbage or sludge being highly flammable makes sense to me.

The way I remember it is that Dark types focus on dirty tactics and tricks to fight - Bite, Beat Up, Nasty Plot, Night Slash, etc. Bugs are generally simple minded creatures though and will just straight up ignore sneaky tactics; ergo, they beat Dark.

I feel Dark was always part of its design given its basis. Wrestlers do employ dirty tactics, fighting-wise, so having it be a dirty brawler and hence Dark instead of Fighting makes sense to me, and feels intentional.

Nevermind, it totally does, I guess. :v

For some reason the basis of this really came down to faulty memory I had long ago of using a Grass-type attack on a Nincada completely forgetting that Nincada is also partially Ground type which really explains it. @_@
