Just out of curiosity, What happens when a moderator or higher breaks a rule. will they get double points, immediate ban regardless what they did, kicked off position? what? I need to know as my forum is all admins and mods as of now because we switched to new software and not everybody has reregistered and I need to know how to punish mods/admins

I doubt any moderators/high staff around would do such things.
It would be a disgrace to their position...

But yeah, if they do, just warn them (or do what you wanna do xD)

If any staff members at PC break rules, they get warned like anyone else and if they keep making offences, they can lose their position.

The staff here at PC are serious about rules. Very serious.
A bit too serious if you ask me *cough*.

Anyways, staff should get the same treatment as average members. It's not for the sake of fairness: Staff members shouldn't need to be treated softer, really.

Too serious? So you want people with no common sense running around and making this place a forum from hell? We have to be strict and hopefully people with the right mindset will realize their mistakes and refrain from breaking rules again. If not and they continue to break the rules, they'll learn their lesson with further infractions.

In the other forums I go to, it depends what did the moderators do. If it's seriously break a rule the punishment could be serious. Like taking off the position of the moderator who broke the rules, or banned the person. It really depends which rule the person break.

    Off-topic:
How can be a moderator in this forum? The other forum I go, they'll just invite you. But the another forum I go to, accomplish the requirements and ask the staff admin then they'll let you be a moderator.

I'd say just IP Ban them if they're starting to SPAM all over the place and breaking rules tinking they're all tops. They have to learn that they're not and an IP Ban could be pretty harsh but if it's necesarry. I've never had to ban anyone on my forums. But that's because I know most of the people and they know me so breaking rules isn't really a common thing. This is how I set it up:
    Warn-->Suspend-->Ban Temporarily-->IP Ban-->IP Ban and Ban the e-mail.

Yeah but they should know why they are banned. Remember Scizz? Nobody knows why...I never saw him doing something wrong and snip...he's banned. I don't know if he knows the reason now 6 months after the ban but it was a desaster that time. Everyone wanted to know and the onliest reply I got was: "He screwed up" well...really? Where? He didn't get any warning he was just banned without any words which is a bad behaviour I think. But okay that's Staff decision. But PC please don't do something like this again to another staff^^.

Oh and I never saw a moderator or any other higher staff breaking the rules...They have to follow them and if not treat them as normal members and give out infractions. They aren't better than us just because of the button and the colored name...it's still a person behind a computer. That's my opinion to this.

    Exact! Could be my words;)

Staff members that breaks the rules are dealt with according to the rules they break. If one of the Staff snaps and goes around spamming then they will be banned like any other member on PC. They might be Staff, but they should know the rules better then anyone else, because they are the ones handing out the warnings to others. So if they broke the rules it's not like they get off the hook with a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again.
Because in the history of PC we have had to ban 2 Assistant Administrators, so we got our own system set up.

And we don't take IP bans so lightly on PC. Because we have so many members and so many guests chances are if we IP ban someone on say... AOL we'll we taking out a good chunk of people.

You might not know this Kioshi, but we don't randomly ban members because we feel like it or because it's time to get rid of another Staff member. If someone is banned they'll know why they're banned. Just because you, or other members doesn't know why Marc (Scizz) got banned doesn't mean the Higher Staff, or Marc doesn't know. Believe me, he knows exactly why there's a strike through his name.
And with Marc's banning PC went on, and I knew it would because I saw a far worse fallout then what happened to Marc. It happens and PC goes on.

And I hate to break this to you, but you saying "please don't do something like this again" isn't going to stop the Staff from doing it again if something like it happens again. Our ways might not always look right in the eyes of the members, but if you were Higher Staff you'd understand.

Well I believe you and agree in all points you said but in the first days of the ban NOBODY knew it, even Marc. I asked him myself in an e-mail and the response was: "Keine Ahnung. Hab wohl was gemacht, was denen nicht gepasst hat." which is in "interpreter" English: "No clue. I probably did something which they didn't like".

But it's like it is now and I can live with it. At the beggining I thought of leaving this place because with Marc my best German friend here went. As you see I didn't ;)

Just to straighten it out, Marc knew why he was banned (from the very start). You can believe whatever you want, you can believe the email, believe other members or whatever. But I know for a fact (and I rarely use the word "fact") Marc knew why he ended up banned. Think about it, he was an AA, he knew the rules, he did lots of Modding on PC and did lots of bannings. And he doesn't know why he was banned? Right...

Anyway, since this has started to drift, and seeing how the thread starter got the question answered I'll lock this. Kioshi if you'd like to continue this little (pointless) chat then you can drop a PM my way.
