Now HG/ SS is official all around the world the rumour mill for the next series of games can start! :D
Of course remakes of Ruby and Sapphire are the obvious ones! Or even Yellow as that hasn't had one, but when these are done, a fifth generation is definately needed!
    Any thoughts?

well, they seem to do this:

    new gen, duo of games

    about 1 1/2 or 2 years later,

remake of the duo with new elements

    about a year later,

    remake of a gen.

so, after hgss, we could expect a new gen by next year...

    red/blue

    yellow

    gold/silver

    crystal

    ruby/saphire

    emerald

    fire red/ leaf green

    diamond/pearl

    platinum

    heart gold/soul silver

    (my speculation)

    new gen duo of games

    remake of the duo

    remake of ruby/saphire

Well Since Nintendo already has said that they've been working on the DS replacement, im assuming that Gen V isnt far behind.

well we will know more about the 5th gen this summer when the movie comes out, expected games coming out this fall in japan, or spring next year in japan for the 5th gen. Im so looking foward to the Ruby and Sapphire remakes :D

Even though I still feel like a remake of Ruby/Sapphire is too soon I would rather have a remake then a whole new generation.

I don't think it would ever turn out like that though.

My opinion is that a couple more side-games are gonna come out, then maybe the 5th Generation will be announced, then the remakes of R/S a couple years after.

I'm hoping for a remake of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. I mean, sure, Gen. V could be amazing, but after what the disappointment I had for Platinum/Pearl/Diamon, I'm not really hyped for a brand new generation just yet.

My theory is that they will not make Ruby/Sapphire remakes. At least, not for a very long time. They have put Ruby/Sapphire hints in D/P/P and HG/SS though. This leads me to believe that they will instead create a 5th generation with a new region, but you will be able to travel back to Hoenn like you could travel back to Kanto in G/S/C.

    Just my idea.

Maybe an upper class of console. Can you guys imagine a 3D hoenn on the Wii?

Unlikely, but still, I remember reading something a while back along the lines of "in the future, maybe we'll bring the handheld gameplay to home-console gaming rather than limited to shadow pokemon and very few goals after beating the game"

We may have a chance of getting a "be the very best" handheld gameplay on the big-screen soon

Ironically I read the complete opposite! :o A few months ago on Joystiq there was an interview with the creators of the games, where they clearly stated that they do not want to bring the main series of Pokemon games to the Wii or any future home consoles ever. They said that it would defeat the whole idea they try to create through the games - the idea of a handheld adventure of sorts. Personally I am glad that they have said that, I agree with them wholeheartedly. :)

What about the 5th Generation featuring all the regions? Could a DS cartridge hold this? Maybe the rumored "DS 2" or whatever (I still hope for a new Game Boy :D ) could have enough space and power for this?
