Ok, after having a bit of help setting up my site, I've finally got MyBB running. I am, however, struggling to create a theme and insert templates. If anyone could help, that would be great. Thanks.

No, I mean help inserting it. Just someone to give a few pointers.

You can follow instructions from the site exactly. Can you link me to the theme you're trying to install?

Alright, well, I can do that much.

Just find the theme, download it, and when you open it up you should find 2 things. A .xml file, as well as an images folder.

In your ACP, select the Templates and Style tab at the top. From there select Import a Theme. Then, under Local File, you should see a button that you can click to find a file. Pick the .xml file that you had in the folder for the theme. Enter whatever you want it to be called in the New Name section, or just leave it blank for the original name. Click the box beside Ignore Version Compatibility then hit Import Theme.

After that, you'll have to upload the images folder to your ftp. Put it in MyBB Root/Images/ and your theme should be working perfectly. (MyBB Root being the root of your forum system)

Ok, cheers. I'll try it and let you know if it worked out.

Alright, although if you do everything right, it should work perfectly. :P

Yeah. The theme I had though, there was no .xml file. It was just JavaScript, Images and one more I can't remember. .php I think.

    Um.... then it wasn't a theme. :/

All MyBB themes have only a .xml file and an images folder. (And possibly Javascript for added features, although they usually just leave that in customized templates, so it's in the .xml file as well)

Well, I have managed to get it to work now. Thanks.
May I ask, how do I add my own banner to the top of the page? Is it in one of the images? Or is it part of the style sheet?

No, I found a different one.

Alright, well, for the logo you just go to your ACP, Templates and Style, select the theme, then scroll down to the Logo section.
