As part of my LP for the Ultimate Solo Challenge I have been playing through Pokemon Green. Yesterday, while recording for episode 8, I went into Digletts Cave where unexpected things were happening. My first enounter was a lv. 43(?) Marowak. Other Pokemon encountered included Golbat, Machoke, Onix and only one Diglett. All of these Pokemon, minus the Diglett, were in the level range of 36-45.
I was wondering if this was just a different version of Diglett's Cave, but after shutting down recording to deal with this problem, I ran into a lv. 0 Arcanine. (I immediately reopened my vid capture) There were three of them while I was in the cave. To me, this confirms a glitch, but every time I re-entered the cave, the high level Pokemon were still there.
I checked Bulbapedia and other sites, but haven't seen a mention of it. Anybody who has played Pokemon Green or even has a completed save, could you check this out, or help me explain this?

Here's a link to the video documenting Diglett's Cave.

Um. I don't think you have a legit version. Considering you can never encounter a level 0 Pokemon without the aid of either an Gameshark/Action Replay or using programs to modify the game. So if you're using a Rom I'm afraid you've downloaded a hacked one. And if you have the real version then odds are it is also hacked.

It seems very strange to me that the only thing to be hacked would be Diglett's cave. So far there haven't been any other oddities in game play, although I admit I can't read the text. In all honesty, I admit that I used the GameShark feature to get my Zubat, but the Arcanine did not appear in glitchblock form, unlike all Pokemon that are summoned via GS in GenI.

There will likely be other oddities the more you progress, but it does sound like you got a bad ROM. :/

Well, I suppose I will soldier on. It doesn't seem to be anything game-breaking.
Also, thank you both for your opinions.

No problem. Perhaps Google a different ROM? We can't give out ROMs here of course, so that's the only other option really. Or you might could consider playing the awfully translated one. Either way, I hope some good comes out of this. I'll lock this for now, but I left it open initially because it's such a specific question, and people tend to blow over the Q&A thread here. But if you have further questions, that's where they belong. Good luck!

    Locked.
