    From now on, any RPs that I, or any other moderator find that have all poor RPers will be CLOSED. I kid you not. The typing of a poor RPer looks something like this:

    ya, so wat u want 2 do 4 2day? *walks away*

    If I see a thread full of people who type like that, it will be closed immediatly. However, I will not close if such an RP has at least 1 member that types fluently.

    While i encourage new RPers all the time, I do not encourage those that type poorly, as it is impossible to read, and can very well be considered SPAM. Those of you that RP correctly, thank you, and I do hope that you will encourage such RPing to the rest of the members.

    anyone that wishes to comment now may. please be coniderate in your posts.

    Can't the moderators of the forum check over the RPGs and perhaps include advice for improving it before closing it?

    ._.;

    absoloutly not! they should know what they're doing when they try and use Netspeak in RPs, it just doesn't work out! that's why new RPers that use netspeak should either seek the advise of someone viewed as a real RPer, or simply teach themselves to type correctly!

    I completely agree with this new rule. The whole point of RPs is to try and make it as close as possible to the real thing while improving your skills at the same time. Although there are those talented RPers who use net language, they would benefit from this.
    I have one suggestion though. I know you'd rather not close RPs that hold one good RPer, but if one of the more active posters doesn't type properly, tell them so, and if it continues, then close it.
    This is just my POV though so yeah.

    Fine, you have a point. warnings will be issued by me(or another mod), then if ignored, closing is immediate. However, this thread will not be closed so other people can add comments and suggestions.

    Hmmm...I personally have seen poor RPer's lately. >.>; Its kinda sad really. There is one person who totally annoys me with his grammar. I will not give a name though. ^^;

    I agree with you FT, and I believe this is an excellent idea. ^^

    Ah, I merely meant by asking people to improve and help them out on various spots.

    Hey, when I was new to RPGs I didn't have a clue what I was doing and desperately needed someone to tell me what I was doing wrong.

    You can't blame them. :/

    Yes, but that is what the nromal good Rpers are suppose to do. I just watch over the place, and since RP threads with all bad Rpers have no chance of getting better, they need closed

    Funny, I thought the mods are supposed to help with that as well...?

    And um, don't judge people right away. Who knows, the RPers you label 'bad' might turn out good one day.

    ^^;

    this is a good rule, FT. i agree with you. they should be booted out.

    I honestly don't think that we have to go to these measures to close a RP thread if its doing poorly due to the members. Everybody who is just beginning to RP has a little trouble as others, and its not breaking any rules because its still following the plot. Just because its not in the manner of how more experienced Rpers would do it, it dousn't mean it should be closed. If there is clear spam and its mostly just conversation going on then fine close it, but just because its not as good quality as others it does not mean it has to be closed. You don't want to put a sence of great fear so people don't post as often.

    I think this callls for a "How to Properly RP" style sticky, so members who need help know where to look.

    Most of the RPs that have all poor Rpers go horribly wrong, and poor Rpers are a pain because 6/10 times they flame you if you try to help them.

    As much as I understand FT's frustrations since I too have felt them myself several times, I can't agree entirely with this new ruling. the only reason why I myself was a halfway descent RPer when I came here was because I had prior RPing experience on a Zelda forum I was a prominent member of and then when that one was forced to close I had further RPing experience in another Zelda Forum.

    However, many of these poor RPers appear to be new users and may not necessarily have prior experience. The best way to reduce poor RPs is not to close them so much as improve the RPers themselves.

    an Example of a similar situation. YOu find a drug dealer on the streets selling his wares. If you close his shop, he'll just move somewhere else and reopen. Then you close down that one, he'll just move again. Soon you're street is covered in closed down drug dealer shops and that one drug dealer is still in business. But if you bust the drug dealer and reform him, then he does better and truly benefits you street. Other role play is the street, The bad RPs are the Drug dealer locations, and even though it's a bad metaphor, the bad RPers are the drug dealers. I propose that if this rule is to be enacted their should be a practice Rp. No true plot to it, but a place where Rpers with lack of skill or even those with skill can go and train up in order to improve their writing and RPing skills. That way they can get any advice as to what they're doing wrong without it being detrimental to the RP, since that would be the purpose of that RP in the first place.

    But because it would be open to the expert RPers too, who could go there to train themselves, they could instruct the bad Rpers as to what they're doing wrong. Frankly if such an RP were to be made and stickied so it was within easy reach, I would volunteer some of my time to step in occasionally and give any tips or pointers in case they make any bothersome or repetitive mistakes.

    I think if we give these guys the space they need to learn, and instruct them along the way, they can become good RPers in the end. They woudl jsut have to understand that the RP is not meant for plot and it's meant to improve one's RPing skills. The opening statement could be how joining the RP is equivalent to an agreement stating that people are free to comment on your skill and provide tips on how to improve it. That way if you get someone who joins who starts whining about being criticized, since you know there is one in every crowd, they would have no room to complain because that is the agreement made in joining the RP.

    there was a thread like that in Pokemon RP, it would be interesitng to have a thread like that here. I'll talk to LiquidThunder aobut it. but the threads I was referring to are totally spam and will be treated that way.

    LIke I said, the only problem with the rule was there was no aspect of improvement. If there is a topic made where they can get better, then there would be no excuse to keep a bad Rp open because they would have no reason to be bad at it unless they purposely didn't go to the Training Rp. And after being shut down a few times, those few people will probably give the training Rp a try so they can RP without getting the topic slammed closed while they're in it. :D
