well they managed to not only fix the labels, add the nintendo seal, and even add the correct code.
the only way to tell, is from the ESRB logo once that's fixed, the only real way to tell would probably be by the price.

    here are some examples:

I fell for one myself, (blurry image) so stay on your toes!
If you're unsure, look for an image of the pins

No matter how good the print job, if they show an image of the pins, and you see holes,
    you know it's fake.

If you're unsure of a game in your collection, check the label, legit games with have a number stamped into the sticker (it may be a bit hard to see)

Well, this is certainly interesting oO

Though is it just Pokemon GBA games in particular like R/S/E specifically, or are other games affected?

it looks like most other games do not have the same attention to detail,
but there are a few, you can find them by looking at the fake pokemon seller's other listings.
    this one pretty good:

but, there are no where near as many as the gba pokemon games

Why get bootleg games when you can find the real deal in second hand shops? Some persons are too eager to sellf or money.

Wow, this is why I don't buy Pokémon games on eBay, as many say that they're likely to be bootlegged and not worth your time. If people play hacks they might not get too taken off-guard by stuff like this.

Sometimes image of the item on ebay may deem true, but it's pretty unsure if the image is trustworthy. The seller might send out bootlegs after purchase is made.

At first I thought this was an ad, but now I see it's not :P

Man bootlegs are ridiculous. Knock it off people.

^ I've even seen people selling shinies/Pokemon with perfect IVs on Craigslist for like $5 each. Pretty sad if you ask me, since they're probably hacked Pokemon.

Anyway, you've always got to be cautious when buying used games on eBay, since even if the picture is of a legit cartridge, you still might get a fake back. Of course, anything with pictures that are just the slightest bit suspicious you should avoid, but make sure that if you're buying something, that you do some research before hand so you don't get scammed!

Not everyone has a secondhand shop close by, unfortunately. So for those that don't have that or any other kinds of connections, they resort to buying online because it's really all they have. But then you have fakes like these that tarnish the market. It really sucks.

I don't think people deliberately buy bootleg games. They look for cheap second hand ones and get ripped off. If the game plays OK then they may not ever realise it was a bootleg.
