Although nothing has been said about next generation portables, we can still speculate on what they will have!

What will be on the PSP2 or the DS2?
Will Microsoft enter the market with XBox Portable.
    What do you think?

Regarding the sales of the PSP, there probably will be no PSP2.

Nintendo's next portable will probably have OLED touch screens that light up in shapes that are used for buttons.

Xbox Portable will probably be huge, unerganomic, and blocky.

Well about the XBox portable, there was this:

I think I read on GS some time back that Microsoft was going to get into the handheld market (and I'm pretty sure that pic up there is a fake, seeing how it looks far too close to a 360 controller). But we all know how that's going to turn out. Nintendo owns the handheld market and it's that simple, Sony Fanboys/girls went on and on about how the PSP is going to pwn the DS and we sure did see the DS get pwned. So I don't think there's going to be a PSP2.

This is what I think about the next gen handhelds from Nintendo.

DS2: It'll be another two screened system with a touch screen that's more advanced on graphics and will run both DS games and the new DS2 fast loading CDs. You'll also be able to play not only GBA games but also GBC and GB games.
It's bottom touch screen is now a tad more advanced, there is no buttons (only L and R). It's one long screen (and no you can't cut it up and break it really easy), it's the size of the DS but in the new DS2 games you'll be able to put buttons anywhere you want on the screen. And the new DS2 you'll be able to have a mic and be able to play and talk online at the same time.

Next GBE ("Evolution" for names sake): The next GameBoy will not only play GBE games but it'll play GC games. It graphics will be up to spec to the GC so you'll be able to stick in a GC game and play it. It'll be able to connect to the Wii wirelessly so all you got to do is stick in a GC memory card into the Wii and be able to copy/move saved files over to a memory stick type thing for the GBE. Then you'll be able to take your GC games on the road.

They'll never happen (sure there will be a new GB, and I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing a new DS), but it never hurts to dream. XD

    What I think:

    PSP2:
    -Backwards Compatibility (obviously)
-Online Downloads of older PS2 and PS games
-Basically Windows Mobile, but not a cell phone

    DS 2:
    -Two screens (bottom touch)
    - I don't think that the buttons will be on the touch screen
    - Online downlaods of GB,C,A games (No slot, will be outdated)
    - No disks, Nintendo is really fond of the cartaridge

    GB Evo:
    - Graphics Equivalent to Game Cube
    - This one will use disks
    - Basically a portable game cube that way it will already have a huge library.

    XBox Portable:
    - Xbox Live
    - Bluetooth headset/mic
    - Graphics equivalent to XBox

My hopes may be a little high and unrealistic, but what do I know about anything? :P

I heard that in an interview that nintendo were going to discontinue the Game Boy.

The PSP hasn't done that well so I doubt sony will want to waste more money, unless they need to get back some of the money I can see them losing from the Ps3.

DS, I can see this going on for a while before it gets upgraded, then it'll have some amazing NEW inovative idea from nintendo, while keeping its trademark touch screen.

Microsoft: Halo 3 gets big, they make a giant portable master cheif helmet
that only plays Halo games, and you put it on your head to play them, fails horribly because they realize that you can't anything, because the screen is on the outside

I don't know if we'll see a Game Boy Evolution (we need to think of a different name. Evolution was a play on Revolution. And Game Boy Wii just sounds ugly. XD). The DS started off as a third pillar. But that pillar seems to have taken over the other two. This year's E3 had a focus on the Wii and DS. GBA wasn't shown off as much as I thought it would be. And the GCN was almost nonexistent. The Wii, game play wise, is very similar to the DS. They share similar features and such too. I think just as Nintendo has gone this new way with their first pillar, I think their third pillar has taken over the second pillar and had some influence on the first pillar. Wow. That's a lot to wrap your head around. XD

Anyway...DS2 (which I hope isn't the name because it sounds like PS2). The current DS is in-between the N64 and the GCN. So, I think the next-generation DS will be between the GCN and the Wii.

Still two screens. Still a touch a screen. However, the screens will be larger. The control pad will be ditched for the thumb-strap and stylus. The buttons will be replaced with the same kind of buttons featured on the Wii (A, a, B, b, etc). This, of course, would make for an awkward interface. The majority of the bottom half of the DS will be a giant touch screen. Two configurations: Right handed and Left handed. This will determine the placement of the buttons in relation to where you will be playing with the thumb-strap or stylus. There will also be enough room that the user can still see an "area of play". If I've worded this poorly. Just think of it like this. The current bottom half of the DS. Only the whole thing is a touch screen. Control it on one side using the thumb-strap or stylus, touchable buttons on the other (it'll come with two thumb-straps), and in the middle is a spot reserved that would act like the current DS touch screen.

Tilt (not motion) sensors will be built into the system.

The Nintendo WFC will also be built into the system, not built into the games. It will also come with Opera built-in, as well as AIM or more advanced version of Pictochat.
