    Ninetales movesets

Ninetales's highest stat is its SD. How do I use this? Maybe a 252 SD/252 DEF/6 SA with the following moveset?
    Also, SD+/ATK- nature(Calm I believe)
    WoW
    C Ray
    Fire Spin
    Heat Wave/Flamethrower
Ninetales's defense is effectively boosted by WoW(lowered enemy ATK=boosted friendly DEF)
Switching out is not an option(Fire Spin=Sandstorm+Mean Look)
Attacking doesn't help either(high SD, lowered ATK, confused)

I currently have a Dewgong with Naive(SPD+/SD-) nature.
Should I catch another one, try my own suggestion, or try something else?
    Dewgong@Chesto Berry
    252 SA/158 ATK/100 SPD
    Signal Beam
    Surf
    I/Beam
    Rest

If this matters, the said Dewgong already exists, EVed and all. It is currently at Lv 65.

Signal Beam kills Psychics and Dark types that expect no threat from Dewgong. It is more of an "element of surprise" move than a utility move(That would be Surf).

The problem with this set is obviously that three of your moves are Fire type. If you run into anything with Flash Fire or Trace your damaging potential is reduced to what you can cause with Confuse Ray. :\

Also, Ninetales' defenses aren't really all that great. I'd say put in Hidden Power electric, ice, or grass (Maybe even Dragon although it's pretty weak) instead of Will-O-Wisp or Fire Spin to get more offensive potential, or failing that Attract makes for a good defensive move (After all...the best defense is not to get hit in the first place).

Try WoW,C-ray,Flamethrower,Safegaurd/Proctect/Hp[Grass/Electric] and go for a (-Attack,+defense,cant remeber the name of it,I think its bold)to even out defenses

Yeah bold is better than Calm. SD is high enough already so boost defense. What would my stats be anyway if I did 252/252/6?

lol no. Maxing out defense isn't going to really help it, since it gets OHKO-ed by most physical attacks anyway (The max defense it can get is 273). Confuse Ray and Will-O-Wisp don't work well together, since W-O-W reduces the damage the opponent's pokemon gets from confusion.

After taking a look at smogon... 140 speed EVs with Timid is recommended; around 200 hp EVs, lots of SDef and put a few ones into sp.attack as well.

    I'd suggest: Flamethrower, HP Grass/Electric / Hypnosis, Grudge, Will-O-Wisp

Well, since I suppose this is for in-game, and since Hidden Powers are hard to get in-game, Hypnosis might work as well, since Ninetales has enough sp.defense to put a special attacker to sleep. The others don't have to be explained I guess.

    Well, I hope this helps.

Alright did some fancy editing, stop making topics for every single pokemon of yours

BTW Dewgong makes a decent mixed attacker so a +Atk,-SpD nature would be good

I don't like fire spins accuracy, and I'd use grudge over it but, if that works for you its fine

thanks for the edit. I expected my Dewgong moveset to take a lot of flak from you. I also need a moveset and EVs for an Adamant Snorlax.
Can Ninetales learn Reflect? If so, replacing my WoW or Fire Spin with that may be the solution to low DEF. Heck, Espy can be a decent (not great, just decent) defender with Reflect.
    I was thinking:
    Snorlax@Chesto
    Adamant(ATK+/SA-)nature
    EVs: 252 ATK, 129 SD, 129 HP
    Body Slam
    Shadow Ball
    EQ
    Rest

Check moveset and EVs sticky at the top of the page, husk did all workable movesets and their EVs for snorlax.

I presume SpD means Speed not Special Defense?
I disagree tho.His offensive stats are too poor to really do damage without stab. And that too barely scratches anything.
Encore is the best he can do.

fire spin is pointless. especially ingame. the only point of it is it traps your opponent, and ingame opponents don't switch.

    wow/flamethrower/hp special/substitute
