So, I tried to replace HootHoot with a custom sprite [right terminology??] and somehow everything turned out OK... other than it having a yellow background instead of a transparent one... aaaand the colors are off. So OK other than the palette. I basically followed this tutorial: /watch?v=xw8DteMV_ac (I can't put links in the post or something, so this is just the end of the address) , but instead I replaced sprite 993 (HootHoot) in Leaf Green.
Here is what my sprite looked like in UNLZ-GBA, Photoshop, and in-game: /a/dcf1N (this is imgur but i cant post links i guess)

So what gives? The colors looked so vibrant (not to mention the transparency thing) in P-Shop and UNLZ-GBA, but in-game it's totally different. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
BTW: This is the first Pokemon sprite I have tried to add, but so far I did the same thing with some move sprites, and it worked OK, which is why I'm pretty confused. It took me a couple hours to make that guy, so I don't want my work down the drain.

All I would say is... Switch to FireRed and download an actual tool (G3T, A-Series, etc.) for inserting Pokémon sprites. It's so much easier with a tool.

Just out of curiosity, why FireRed? Is it less prone to do this kind of stuff or something?
    thanks

There's nothing wrong with using LeafGreen. It's just less popular on this site.
Now if you want to replace Pokémon sprites easily I suggest looking into Advanced Series by Wichu. It's perfect for that.

I don't remember if there is an .ini for LeafGreen by default so if not let me know and I'll share one with you. :)

Oh, that's fine. I was just curious (didn't really have that many changes done to LG anyway so far, just messing around right now) so I'll probably switch to FR anyway. Thanks for offering, though. Also, Advanced Series is pretty cool and the import worked out this time. Thanks, guys.
