Would you consider yourself someone who obsesses very much on a relatively narrow subject? Obviously we all like Pokemon to an extent, but some people have wider, less focused interests than others.

I personally have a huge obsession with our feathered friends.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Obsession.

    "What was that?"

I can't really put my finger on what really fascinates me so much about birds, but I absolutely cannot help but read more and more about them every day. I find myself reading the same books over and over, just to catch little details about some obscure species that I didn't remember last time! I love going to the library just to pick up a ton of books about them. Studying everything from their habits to their evolutionary paths is just absolute ecstasy for me and I find myself reading these books for several hours a day, sometimes more than I play video games.

So I was wondering if any of you people were the same way with some things.

I can obsess over something, but it tends to fade as I find something else to obsess over. I can't concentrate on more than one obsession I guess, haha.

I don't know if my obsessions would be relevant to this topic, as they're more related to my personality than they are an object, but i'm completely and totally obsessed with perfection and pleasing people.
Whenever I do something, I will continue to keep modifying it until the day I die unless I force myself to stop, i'm THAT obsessed with making something perfect. I'm also obsessed with making sure everyone else is pleased.
Oh, and i'm obsessed with perfect symmetry, which is part of my perfection problem.

As for something not related to my personality, I would say i'm obsessed with nature. I love the outdoors. Trees, the plants, the grass, the sky, you name it and i'm probably obsessed with it.
Reason being is I find the outdoors beautiful, and can easily find inspiration in it, especially at a certain time of day when the light hits things a certain way.

    I'm weird as hell.

Nah, I'm don't tend to obsess over anything. My interests are really wide and I always find something to do, and I don't tend to focus on one thing for way too long, otherwise I'd get bored. I usually have deep interests in different things, but I don't necessarily call them obsessions since they don't even last more than a week.

I definitely obsess over some very narrow subjects:

Leaf from Pokemon FR/LG. Easily my favorite Pokemon character, human or Pokemon. I'm obsessed with her enough to cosplay as her, constantly hunt for fanart of her, and even base my own trainer character Lisa on her design except with a more formal outfit.

Quality Inns: I've always been fascinated with the hotel industry, but my focus on Quality Inn probably seems random. After all, there's nothing special about it... it's your perfectly average, middle of the road hotel chain. But maybe that's why so many of my hotel stays end up being here... it's reasonably clean and fits well into my budget. The fact that I stay so much alone might be a reason lol

Buick automobiles: Not so much for what Buick is now, but for what they used to be... luxury-minded full size automobiles with cushy seats, lots of space, and a large, imposing presence on the road. I always liked size and comfort in my cars.

As for more general obsessions.... anime comes to mind. The Pretty Cure franchise is a bit more specific within that category, but really, I can get obsessed with any anime series with cute girls :P

My main obsession would be TV and movies. I have at least 15 shows currently airing that I follow religiously and never allow myself to miss an episode of any of them. I also must see the episodes in sequence, so if I've missed an episode I can't watch the next one on TV if I haven't gotten around to seeing the previous one yet. This is of the utmost importance to my happiness.

With movies, I try to use every day off work as a chance to go to the movies. If I see a film I really love, then I must go and see it again with other people. I've seen so many movies two or three times at the cinema alone; my record is five times for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II.

The other thing I tend to obsess over is food/drinks. If I find a new food I'm in love with, then I will keep having it as often as I can for as long as it takes me to get sick of it. Currently I'm obsessed with satay chicken, lemon meringue pie and above all, SLUSHIES. They are so goddamn delicious and I need them in my life.

EDIT: Oh and songs! I'm not really all that interested in music to begin with, but when I find a song I like I fall in love with it and listen to it constantly until I ruin it for myself haha - well actually I've never really ruined a song for myself, I just take a break and then I love it again. But yeah.

Whenever something goes seriously wrong, and I'm involved in it, I end up obsessing over it for quite a long time. That usually changes whenever I find something else serious wrong that I was involved in, then that becomes my next obsession-although I do bring up previous obsessive events on occasion.
Examples of things I obsess on are: my experience at my regional vocational school I went to towards the end of high school; someone cracks a stupid joke about something, and I get wound up about it for a long time; a friend of mine almost tricked me into participating in a juice selling scheme, among various others.

Other obsessions of mine include economic history, the 'dubfest' that Wheel of Fortune went through with the announcer position after longtime announcer Charlie O'Donnell died (in which his remaining eight weeks that had not yet aired were notoriously dubbed over with various guest announcers, which was done supposedly because "it would've been too sad to hear Charlie's voice so close to his death") and continuing after current announcer Jim Thornton was named to the position (upon which he was dubbed over the other guest announcers for summer reruns, including dubs over guests that were dubbed over Charlie's original announcing, this was done so that the show could "establish" him.), and electric utility systems.

There's this game called Tales of Symphonia that I've been obsessing over with for oh... seven-eight years now and even today it continues to consume my life. There have been times when the obsession doesn't show or I'm "obsessing" over something else but in time I come back to the same game and obsess over it alll over again.

Being healthy is really the only one I can think of. I don't eat fried foods at all, or any dessert, junk food, soda... really anything that's bad for you. I would only eat organic food if I could, but that's not really feasible atm.

... I-I think it may be too obvious what my obsession is... ////////

I can't really put my finger on it... but for some reason I think about 'Tini all the time, and imagine different quirky situations for it to be involved in for art and for roleplay. I roleplay a lot with someone special to me and when we do I'm always 'Tini and we always involve really detailed and intricate storylines usually revolving around 'Tini and what it goes through.

As for art.. it's a huge passion of mine. ^////^; I always find myself trying to come up with different pieces revolving around that little flaming bunny. ♥

I tend to watch pieces of the movie it was in a lot, review art of it, read about it, and find different particular things about 'Tini that many wouldn't know, or realize. I've studied it's anatomy over and over, and still continue to just for the pure purpose of increasing my artistic ability in drawing it. I study it's personality, behavior, everything to increase my ability to roleplay it and to learn more about it...

.... A-and let's not get started on the sheer amount of merchandise I have of Victini.

    I could never explain what it is that fascinates me so much about it... but I cannot help myself. >/////<;

I tend not to become overly obsessed with one thing. In fact, a lot of the time I tend more towards the apathy side of things instead of the obsession side, because it's a lot of effort to get super obsessed with something and I don't have that kind of energy. Except maybe PC kinda counts?

I can get super obsessed with things. Just depends on what I'm into at the time. I went for a long while without any huge obsessions. Barring my own writing. That's just something I obsess over all the time, haha.

Right now mine is Homestuck. I have no life so I've read through it several times. I'd rather not talk about how much I check for new updates. Sometimes I dream about it. It's kind of awkward at times.

I have obsessed over plenty of fandoms before, especially Sonic the Hedgehog, Code Geass, Uncharted, Final Fantasy XIII, The Hunger Games, Legend of Korra, Tales of the Abyss, Ao no Exorcist, and within the Pokemon fandom, simply (shiny) Whimsicott, trading, and RNG abusing.

I know I'm obsessing when I stay up late reading the TV tropes, looking for fanart, or rambling about it in a chatroom.

I can't remember f any obsessions right now
But maybe, I am bit obsessed with books
I love'em and although nowadays I ave more time than before and I read less I still like them
When I start reading a book, I tend to only be bale to take it off my face when I finished it (franchised books are the bane of my existence - literally - they make my existence fumble down to the bookworm nerd, and if I can't get the sequel ...)

I have quite a few obsessions. I always try not to get obsessed with things... But then it just happens!

At the moment I'm obsessed with economics. If anyone mentions the economy in front of me, I go into a long rant about why our economy is so messed up. And you can't stop me, lol.

And I guess in extension I also have an obsession with certain economists, like Ludwig von Mises. I read his stuff obsessively whenever I get a chance. Like, when I start reading it I just can't stop myself and I spend all night reading, even if I had plans to play video games after. I know I'm obsessed with something when it takes precedence over playing video games! xD

I do have obsessions with other stuff though, just obsessions that aren't quite as all-consuming. Like classic rock music, big American luxury cars, the 80's, and the Russian language.

I obsess over pretty much everything I do.

ROM Hacking, Composition, and math. And music. And people who are mean to me.

    Obsession?

    I am obsessed with...
    Astronomy and Mythology.

Astronomy, well, it started when my sister told me stories about stars exploding. \m/ Mythology started when I played Poptropica's Mythology Island and saw the Medusa turn Hercules into stone near the entrance of Mount Olympus. Plus, I defeated Zeus using Hades's skull crown and the underwater king's staff... Who was he again?

O_o I'm also obsessed with Poptropica, if it isn't obvious.

I've had a lot of obsessions during my life, but they tend to fade away after a while, and some come back later :P

The earliest obsession I can remember I had was pokemon when I got red and a gameboy for my birthday, oh happy times :)

I've also had obsession for games in general and manga+anime

I also seem to have some obsession with having several tabs open at once and never close them thinking that I'll soon come back to them, then after one week I may close them. There is one tab I currently have open that's been open for two or three months! And the most tabs I've had open at once were just under 100 (I've gotten more control over myself lately, I never even have 40 tabs open at once anymore XD)
