I don't know if anyone's ever considered Miracle Eye. That's why I thought I'd mention T-Wave and Silver Wind.

Miracle Eye doesn't work out.

Xatu uses Miracle Eye
Ttar destroys it with Stone Edge

Silver wind won't help much. Tyranitar and Sharpedo Sharpedo Sharpedo Sharpedo are the only Dark types used.

And Miracle eye only gives a free turn to attack.

you really have to know how you want to use xatu. it's one of my favorite pokes so i of course found a use for it as one of my starters:

Xatu @ Focus Sash
Ability: Synchronize
Naive Nature (+Spd, -Sp Def)
184 SPD/204 SP ATK/120 ATK
-Psychic/Drill Peck
-HP Electric or HP Fighting
-U-Turn
-Thunderwave

the idea is you paralyze and switch out with u-turn. then when someone wants to inflict status on one of your pokes, then you can use Synchronize to punish them (works wonders with Dusknoir). either you go with Psychic + HP Electric or Drill Peck + HP Fighting.
