    I've never head of the 'Acer Aspire ' Brand o.o I'd go with something I've seen commercials of....like HP, Gateway, or Dell computers. I myself am an HP person, but it you're looking for good quality at a cheap price, go Dell :3 Hope this helped ^^;;

    meeeh pretty good laptop only bad battery life=/and of the bad reviews every thing has most of the time atleast a few bad review.butt if you don't go for this one go for a dell laptop

    If you're going to buy online, go with a Dell. If you're going to buy in a store like Circut City or Best Buy, get an eMachines. They're the most durable, long lasting computers I've encountered. Well, of all the modern computers, but that's for another thread.

    I have a three year old emachines desktop that died on me about a week ago after I fried the motherboard (long story), a one year old desktop that is usually on for months at a time, and 9 month old laptop that I'm using right now that takes one heck of a beating, and it still works. My old Compaq lasted ONE YEAR before it died.

    I haven't tried Dell as I'm happy with eMachines, but everyone I've met with a recent Dell is happy. A friend of mine used to have an older dell, and he had nothing but trouble, but that was due to one heck of a bloatware\initially installed spyware problem. I guess they've changed things since then.

    I'd be going for a bigger Harddisk but seems good. I'm not a big fan of Acers...

    On the topic about good brands, my HP handheld which my brother gave me has been kicking for 8 years!

    Just don't get a Sony, they aren't terribly good...

    Don't go with unknown brands, you are always taking a chance. If you are looking for a cheap and qualified computer go with Dell. They have a computer on thier website for $499 after rebates...or other affordable computers that are FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE.

    I'm not really a fan of buying computers from unknown brands, or even big brand names either. I don't see anything that would make this computer a really bad choice though- try going onto a site with customizable computers that usually has rebates like Dell and see what you can get for a similar price.

    Well my dad got an off brand computer and it died within a year. I'm not saying all are like that, but to me it's best to stick with brands you know.
    If it was me, I would go with an HP laptop. They are good, but might be higher up the price range. But well worth it (I wouldn't get anything other then an HP when I was getting my laptop) if you go with one.

    And at my high school, it's IBM ThinkPads and Optima desktops. Ew.

    I know what you mean about Optimas. One room at my High School is full of new IBMs, work quickly, the others aren't too new, they're Optimas, and they are slow! Guess what! THEY ARE PENTIUM 4 FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!

    On the topic of unknown brands, I like to go brand name, preferablly a HP like Arccy up there.

    What are you exactly going to use the 'top for?
