I can't keep my PC Organized ever.
There will be times when I clean it up and move stuff around but in the end I just end up getting breedjects everywhere.
Anyone else got the same problem?
I separate them into categories like shiny, legendary, possible breeding tools, etc, but nothing past that. Right now I have a box filled with Relicanths that are breedjects, so I can just trade them away when I'm getting pokemon from X to OR.
The first few boxes are usually all the Pokemon I caught for completion sorted by their (primary) typing. (I also always spend too much time deciding on the appropriate background for each type)
The rest are stuffed with bred and EV-trained Pokemon or the ones I want to use for future breeding
Yeah, mine is basically "stuff this pokemon into the first box that actually has room left in it." But I also don't usually do anything that leaves me with a large amount of pokemon in the first place, so it's usually not too hard for me to find what I want again...
I'm sure my habits will come back to bite me if I ever do anything that requires organizing my pokemon better, but eh. I'll worry about that when I actually need to. :D
Years ago, I didn't put much thought on how I'd categorize my PC boxes. After a while, though, it became tough to search for Pokémon, and that, I didn't like, so I decided to something and began sorting my boxes.
When it comes to sorting, what I usually do is name each box after a type, and put Pokémon in them accordingly to their box titles. I also leave out a couple of other boxes every now and again with name being something along the lines of either "Special" or "Favorites," and store only the Pokémon that I find myself using on my team frequently.
I never bother organizing my boxes. The only time I ever tried was in HeartGold because you could get the secret box backgrounds, but that fell apart eventually.
I feel like I remember reading somewhere that organizing the boxes can actually affect the Pokémon in them. Is this true?
I usually put the Pokes I keep on rotation in one box, but other than that there's no rhyme or reason to the Pokemon in my PC. Whenever I start a game I try to keep them as organized as I can. But then once I realize how much time and effort that takes, I just don't even bother with it anymore :P
All that time I spend organizing Pokemon in the PC could be better spent actually catching/battling them, after all~
I use PokéBank - I drop everything I don't need often there, which is 70% of the Pokémon I have. This cleans up 20 boxes.
Next, I drop my Dittos in one box, sorted by nature alphabetically. Synchronize Ralts follow the same system. I've got a box for my random legendaries - those I didn't bother getting the right nature with. Another box for legendaries with the right nature. I've got a box for Competitive Pokémon, and one for future projects. Then I've got one for utilities, such as Relicanth and Wailord, and my Zangoose to capture Pokémon with and Magby to breed with.
Once I start dex filling etc, I have them in dex order; since I typically try to get one of every species - which I've only accomplished twice, and in the second game (X) the file corrupted, and AS failed to keep my attention long enough - for the sake of my own satisfaction. I have enough space left over for duplicates I want to keep and shinies etc, so I just sling them in the last couple of boxes. xD
I honestly don't use the pc much, there's only been a select few games where i really rounded up pokemon and breeded hard. Diamond, which is my storage game is sorted by types, but the first box is just full of rejects that I use to trade over to other games the pokemon i need.
I often have boxes for the following categories: Legendary, Shiny, perfect IV spread (competitive potential), egg move parents, and Pokemon for trade. That way it's easier to find the 'mons I need when breeding for movesets and such. These boxes are usually the very last ones to prevent interference, because everything miscellaneous gets dumped into Box 1 onwards.

We need a sort feature. ;__; Seriously. I'd love to sort by nickname, Pokémon name, or Pokédex # so much haha. I just put everything I catch into whatever box has space but keep shinies and IV bred/EV trained 'mons to their own separate boxes so I can find them easily. Otherwise.. yeah, yay for the search function lol.
Oh my god... Okay, I just recently went through my Boxes and decked them tf out so I have to show them off, I'm so proud of them. Also not pictured, I have all Pokémon chronologically listed in my Pokémon Bank (so Box 1 has Pokémon 1-30, Box 2 has 31-60... etc)
Just a forewarning, these pics came out huge for some reason, and there are six of them so
