Why have the threads been deleted without explanation? Was it because members were just simply voicing their opinions and trying to help it along a bit? This is amazing idea and could be brilliant, so why delete it? Very disappointing. Not just for me but for many others who were excited about the idea.

Maybe you should question if they were spammy or stupid to the point mods just killed them off.

Yeah but was their a need to kill the whole project off? If thats whats happened. If anything just warn them and delete the posts, even though they really didn't do a great deal.

Moving this to Community Questions & Feedback, as it's the forum for these kind of things.

The forum was hidden, meaning that all threads are still there, just not visible.
The idea pretty much flopped, the gym leaders had not enough spare time to open up and take care of their gyms, due to other things that consumed their time (real life, etc).
To that comes the fact that the most what people did in there was spam and complain when it will be ready, which is completely unnecessary.

Maybe once they get more time, it will return, but for now it's gone.

Thanks for the explanation man. Shame its been given up on. Like I've said its an idea that has so much potential. One thing though. I do not see why it has to be the same certain people who run the gyms and other stuff. It could have more inclusive and allowed others to contribute instead of just waiting for 1 or 2 people to become more active. Obviously real life is the priority, but if people had known some of their time would be taken up, why did they commit themselves to this? Is it because they are well known around the community being the reason why they were given leadership roles?

I understand the spamming in the thread is completely unecessary, but to be fair the Gym Leaders had opened themselves up for criticism by never being around.

Hopefully it can work again, with active Gym Leaders and Trainers :) I will help out if needed and wanted for a future Pokemon League. It needs serious planning out and doesn't need rushing, but I would love it being a popular feature on this community in the future. A fully functioning League sounds amazing and would attract many new members to the board. I know myself and many others would enjoy it as well, whether as a Gym member defending their own Gyms honour or a trainer looking to reach elite status!

...Then, may I ask, if/when it does return, will us Gym Trainers still have that role, or will it be re-assigned? Because I was wondering about this as well, and actually being a part of it, I would have expected some sort of notice from Archsage at least...

There are plenty of experienced and respected trainers on this board so why does it have to be so exclusive?

Sure we can have staff to run these gyms so it doesn't go terribly wrong but why not open it up to the general population. If the Gym Leaders are away why not just let a Gym Trainer take up the role?

This is the point some of us are trying to make. Maybe some of us are impatient, but why does it have to be the same people who run the gyms and other stuff? I'm sure they are very well known and respected on the board (heck you know some of them by first name terms), but why must it be the same people who have to run the league? When they are around I'm sure they do a bang up good job, but they aren't around. 1 or 2 of them I've never even seen post in the few months (more or less) I've been here.

There are perfectly good candidates who are very active on the board. I mean their are Gym trainers like Ichida and Ichaste who are perfectly capable of running the Gym themselves. I'm just echoeing what Punishment said in his post. The league was too exclusive.

(Sorry for the somewhat off-topic post, but...)

Hey, don't try to throw that on my shoulders!! XP

Besides, it was already mentioned that, should the first League be successful, there might be a second one with certain members heading the Gyms up. However, the first League being run by normal members could cause some chaos, especially if/when problems with the Gym come up. They simply don't have the power to handle the bigger problems by themselves, so a Admin/Mod would be needed, anyway.

The point is, let's get the first one set up first, THEN worry about who should be able to do what in the next one.

I didn't have a problem with keeping it exclusive, and I was actually arguing this point in my head last night.

The only way to be completely fair is to organise a tournament with all community members involved. That's really not very possible. Keeping it within the mods is the only way to make it fair (that is, by taking the most trusted members, as there's no chance they'll leave the community in the near future), and it was still fair in the vein that trainers were hand picked, and anybody had a chance.

I suppose that on a personal level, there are people here I don't like (mostly leetspakers) and wouldn't want them supported by the admins/mods*.

*I know that leetspakers are unlikely to be supported by the higer-ups, but I don't like conceited people either. Or lots of other people.

This is the point though, however good and well known they are, they simply haven't been around to do the job. There is impatience, but then there is waiting months for a simple Gym to open that one of the more capable Gym trainers could have very well run themselves, temporarily of course.

And then there is impatience again. Tide yourself over by using battling threads and such.

I'm not impatient at all if thats what your suggesting. I never even signed up for the league and wasn't intending to for another month or so until I was happy with my team. I'm simply voicing mine and many others opinion. I'm not trying to put anybodys nose out of joint on this thread at all, I'm just trying to state some of the major problems this league obviously had and trying to find a solution to how we can run an interactive, fun and active league, which with proper planning should be possible.

Okay, and enough whining. The league is closed for now, whether you like it or not, and complaining about "coulds" and "woulds" won't change that. If you really want this League to work, you'll wait, and you'll wait quietly.

Absolutely, this is also one of the reasons its closed right now (as you can imagine, lots of people are going to school again, so everything needs to normalize.)

So, I'm closing this for now, and no other discussion should be taking place about it until the staff have worked something out, which should be sooner than later. =/
