4th Gen Pearl version help

alright so made my way to the third gym leaders town..he wasnt in (its the city with the pokemon contest) and they guy in the gym told me he will come abck after i do something..so i made my way to the 4th gym leader and beat him..then went back but still nothing..am i missing something?

Yes, you missed something. Have you seen the galactic grunt near the safarai game? You need to talk to him. He will run away and you have to follow him until he battles you. Also, your rival will want to battle so be ready. Then you should return to the 4th gym and the leader should be there.

well i everytime i talk to him he talked about a package of explosives not arriving from veilstone yet..no chase scene whats up?

You missed something. The Gym in Hearthome isn't the third gym, but the fifth gym. The actual third gym is in Veilstone. After that, and an event involving a warehouse, the grunt in Pastoria should say something different, and you go from there. ^^
