This is a little essay I recently wrote for competition. It won first place in round 3! Let me know what you think! ^^

Perfection. We all want it, whether or not we'll admit it to each other, whether or not we'll even admit it to ourselves.

Many of us are leading or have led a lifetime journey to seek perfection and enlightenment. The way I see it, we can reach both. All you need to do is look at the way life works.

Many of us define 'perfect' as flawless, without error, immaculate. Even many dictionaries and thesauruses define it that way. So many of us find it's most likely impossible to find perfection, even though deep down we still seek it.

Many of us have said to ourselves, or others, that life isn't fair, or something to that effect. This may very well be true, or it may not. But what is true is that life includes many ironies.

We were not born to be flawless, to never make mistakes, to live without challenges. Life is meant to be a challenge, and we were born with our own unique flaws that provide that challenge. In that sense we are perfectly adapted to life.

Think about it this way- if we were all born without a single flaw, we would all look, smell, think, and live the same way. We would never make mistakes to learn from, and there would be no need to influence others, including through art. There would be no dreams, no goals, no start or finish line. That would be the most boring life that many of us could imagine.

Though I'm only 16, I've realized something really beautiful about my life- I am perfect in that I have flaws that create the challenge in my life. Life works in many ironic ways, including this perfection through flaw.

That's the beauty of life- we aren't identical blobs of gray. We're all born different, with our own unique strengths, weaknesses, tendencies, and flaws. We were all born with our own challenges to meet in life, and when we realize this, and we're ready and willing to take on those challenges, we are perfect in the ironic way of life.

It's alright, nothing special. BTW- I completely disagree with some things. I don't know anyone who cares to become perfect because why would you want to be perfect when you know it's impossible and the only perfect person who has ever lived was Jesus? I have even asked people about it. Your last paragraph isn't true. We aren't perfect and never will be perfect. Not even ironically. Flaws make us NEVER perfect. If you ever make ONE mistake which everyone does, you are never perfect ever again. It is impossible to not make a mistake because everyone makes a sin each and every day even if you don't notice. Yes, we are not all identical and we all are unique, but WE don't have challenges born to us because we have free will. If you chose to pay attention in school you won't have challenges unless it's with an area you aren't particularly good in, but you could easily get rid of that challenge. Everyone also has the same challenges though, it's just with a different person. Everything has been done repeatedly before, either tested or repetitive same kind of work. We also originally could've been born to be flawless, but someone sinned and ruined it for us all. The devil's doing. Yes, life isn't fair. Many people have said that, but it is YOUR fault because you should be able to do something about it then and there or later. Not a perfect life. No one can ever be perfect born to this Earth anymore. If you were born without great mental capacity, you are not perfect. If you were born with one deformity, you are not perfect. No one can become perfect. If anybody had the desire to become perfect I believe they are already a big step away from it. You don't try to become perfect. You have to BE perfect.

This is the only paragraph I didn't have anything to say about because it was all true except the looks part. You can't tell with genetics. Everyone doesn't look the same pretty much for the exception of twins.
