POKÉMON REVOLUTIONARY EVOLUTION!?!

    Pokémon has stood the test of time by its early stories, gameplay, and collective nature that people have grown to love. I've loved Pokémon since the 90s , and it's pretty much beaten out its competitors since then ( yeah I'm looking at you Digimon and Yugi-Oh). Now however people may get excited to play newer generations but Pokémons main market is growing up or has grown up. With releases such as Yokai Watch blazing forward in Japan because of its new take on a genre and adult naive nature, I see a less glorious Pokémon long run. Nintendo won't give the confirmation for Game Freak to change its focus group to a more mature audience, so stories won't really become any deeper unless covert (YEAH I'm looking at YOU pokedex entries) so what in your opinion can GameFreak do to revolution Pokemon? Without giving us the MMO or free world game we so badly want.. SO WHAT IS THE REVOLUTIONARY EVOLUTION POKÉMON NEEDS TO MAKE!?

    MY EYES! WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY EYES?!?!

    Interestingly, a friend has told me a declined in audience and players for the young age, as Youkai Watch is making it big (and still growing). If that keeps on going, the whole Pokémon's either focusing on mature audiences (not GTA, but more like DQ/FF) or kicking the bucket. {XD}

    I mean, at the end of the day, whether we like it or not, it is a "kids" game first and foremost (even though mostly everyone from all ages play it), since that's the intended demographic. Can't say most conservative parents would approve of their children playing something that would be too deep in nature, at least to the point of not having that "E" ESRB rating anymore.

    While I do agree with your general point (and keep in mind that Pokemon has had a deeper and deeper story as of late--look no further than B/W as well as B2W2 for examples, and Cyrus' insanity in D/P/Pt), the chances of Pokemon making a drastic change for a more mature audience is slim to none, really. All GF can really do is give small nods to their veterans here and there as they kinda dance along the line of how dark their stories can be.

    See I understand that but even just a thinking a corporate structure trying to maintain sales they need to do something to freshen there product. Why not shift focus onto an audience that's been asking them for a more adult storyline. They clearly have the capability, but the nods with the B/W storyline, it was a step foward but X and Y was a step back plot wise.

    Yeah I been keeping an eye on Yokai Watch, there's no question once it's released in the West, that's it's gonna blow up. Which Nintendo will use to happily fill there pockets but GameFreak has to start getting agressive with there marketing or find a way to tell Nintendo it's time for a major shift. I doubt Pokémon can just kick the bucket. {XD} but I mean look at Tembo the Badass Elephant , from GameFreak. The company has creativity waiting to be tapped into.

    No offense to the Youkai Watch fandom, but I din't see anything particularly interesting between the YW anime and the Pokémon anime. On the gaming department, I was really surprised when I learned Youkai Watch game had the highest sales figure in Japan last year.

    So it might be wise for Game Freak to change their strategy? Not MMO or mature like GTA, but something that is less children like. Gen VI is obviously catering the metagame, so they might continue that path for the future generations?

    For almost every five people growing out of Pokémon, there are five more growing in; even if they're losing fans due to them maturing, they are still gaining some on the side. Due to this reason, I don't believe Pokémon will be in any sort of danger for some time.

    Though, personally, I definitely wouldn't mind seeing them change things up a little, at least once, and release titles that aim slightly more toward the older audience and whatnot. I'm sure many of us would be interested in it!

    Not a fan myself really just see the potential of it is all. But hopefully so , they continue the path they are on just maybe less subversive I'd say .

    I would have to agree with you on the generational market, but I think they really need to take advantage of those mature audience especially considering if they have the greater monetary output.

    The problem with this idea is that the same people who grew out of Pokémon for its kiddy nature will complain about the sudden mature changes that's suppose to appeal to them only and will say how it ruined their childhood. Of course, some would indicate that they were never true Pokémon fans to begin with and only liked it back when it was a thing.

    I think that making the entire series more "mature" would be the wrong way to go about it. Yes, many of us long-time fans have grown up, but think about this: would any of us have gotten into Pokemon in the first place if it weren't aimed at kids? Like Peitharchia said, for every 5 fans who grow out of it, you'll have 5 new ones growing into it. But if they take the series in a more mature direction, the latter probably won't happen. We got into it as kids--Pokemon was a part of our childhood, so we have an attachment to it that we likely wouldn't have if we had gotten into it when we were older. I don't think the series would have as loyal a fanbase if it were aimed at adults, and it probably wouldn't have lasted as long as it has if it weren't for that.

    I think it would be nice if they released new games, spin-offs, and side series that show the darker, more mature aspects of the Pokemon world, while still keeping the main series the same way it's always been. Pokemon Coliseum and Gale of Darkness did a great job of this. I think that this could really work well, because Pokemon is a series that lends itself well to this: we'd just be seeing more aspects of the Pokemon world, which of course any fan would want :D

    Those just my thoughts, though. Personally, I think Pokemon is doing just fine right now and we're in no immediate danger of losing it :)

    Ya know what, I think that's the best response I've heard. I can't believe I didn't think of spin off games filling in that spot for a more mature audiences. In fact that's such a great Idea. It really hits my brain like a bolt. I really hope they do that actually. I would love a darker Pokemon Conquest and another Collosuem type of game.
