Pokémon Strawberry Version

Hi, everyone. Ever since last year, I've been playing ROM hacks, specifically the ones based on Gen II (i.e.: RainbowDevs' Prism, Pia Carrot's Orange, et. al.). Recently, I decided I'd try to make one of my own called POKÉMON STRAWBERRY!

There's only one problem--I have a lot of ideas already, but absolutely no ROM hacking experience. I did make some neat boxart, though!

    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon Strawberry Version

Pokémon Strawberry is a Crystal hack "for girls" (and really, it's for everyone). The version mascot and legendary for the game is Mew--it can be caught legitimately, but I don't know where yet. Strawberry takes place in Kanto, where the Girls' Gym Challenge takes place.

    The year is 1999.

The starters will be Pichu (electric), Cleffa (alien) and Igglybuff (fairy/sound). I chose these three starters because I was inspired by the old manga, Magical Pokémon Journey. New types could include alien (because it's well-known that Clefairy is an extraterrestrial), angel, sound (returning from Prism), and demon. I don't yet know how these will fit into the type chart.

In this game, I figured there would be two rivals: Hazel from Magical Pokémon Journey, and Coconut from the same manga. I was thinking of having Yellow and Leaf appear in some capacity as well.

Throughout Strawberry, trainers participate in the Girls' Gym Challenge, featuring some of the Pokémon World's best gym leaders--and two new ones! They are...
    • Clair, dragon
    • Misty, water
    • Erika, grass
    • Sabrina, psychic
    • Whitney, fairy
    • Neveah, angel
    • Desdemona, demon
    • Jasmine, steel

The Elite Four, however, would consist of four guys, and end with a battle with Champion AJ (that's me!).

Major themes of this game would include love and heartbreak, girlhood, sisterhood, sweetness and cuteness.

Team Rocket will likely make a comeback as the evil team of this game. Their motives are unknown at this time.

Musically, I want to include some songs from later games, and also songs from the 4Kids dub (i.e.: Misty's Song, Catch Me If You Can, Lullaby, etc.) So far I have done mockups of Zinnia's theme, the RSE title screen, and a few other Pokémon songs using GarageBand, but I have no clue what will be in the final product.

If anyone wants to work with me and help guide me through making this, it would be a real joy--it is meant to be a love letter to y2k culture, generation II, nostalgic songs, and girlhood as a whole. Thank you for your time.
