The new Pokémon mobile game has been released today. It's called TCG Pocket and the main objective of the game is to collect TCG cards. Have you tried it? Do you like it? And how are your pulls so far?

There is also a brand new format for playing Pokémon TCG in the game. It's simpler than the regulsr format. You only use decks of 20 cards and energies are generated automatically once per turn. What are your thoughts on that?

I personally felt an itch for Pokémon TCG lately. It's been over 15 years since I actively played it. I was considering getting Surging Sparks Elite Trainer Box and Booster Box to start playing again, but this game might scratch the itch just enough. I got fairly lucky and got the full art Squirtle and regular Blastoise EX. I think the game wants me to build Blastoise deck.

The battle system is okay, but I don't think I'll spend much time in it. The regular TCG is more fun in my opinion.

I got it a couple of hours ago and I am enjoying it so far. I've really only been opening some packs and battling the AI in the solo battle missions to get rewards and stuff so I've not really done anything major so far, but yeah it's pretty cool.
I'm someone that found the tcg a bit too complex and overwhelming to try and get into, so this streamlined version for the more casual player suits me more.
My pulls have been pretty unlucky though, barely any rare ones at all 😂

I tried it yesterday and I liked it. I had felt an itch for the TCG too when TCG live was released, but I didn't like it as it felt slow, clunky and buggy. So far, TCG pocket, despite being a simplified version, seems fun enough and perfect for some quick games now and then. And looks good visually too.

My pulls haven't been super lucky either though 😅

I'm really not a fan, the gameplay is over simplified to the point that there's no real strategy to be had, certainly no decent combo potential like the actual TCG. Some of the artwork is nice though.

If it's anything like PTCG Live, no thanks. Losing the HG/SS block collection to migrate my stuff to TCG Live was a no-go for me and kind of a slap in the face considering how I pretty much had that account since the beginning of TCGO. I pretty much used my BW codes to get as many HG/SS boosters as possible back in the day before they made it so you could no longer redeem whatever boosters you wanted with codes anymore.

This has been a really good introduction to the TCG for me - I've never played the real version and I'm aware this is a much more simplified version of the game, but it's got me interested with its easy to pick up formula and I think for me and a lot of people, it's good training wheels for if/when we do want to dive into the real thing. For now, I am having a lot of fun opening packs and getting salty over coin flips with my friends.

That's very much where I stand. I have tried the tcg and the online tcg, and I do really want to get into that properly, but I struggled. I think I needed something like Pocket to help gain my interest ease me into it. It's simple and I'm having fun with it and I'm enjoying making up random decks to see how they do. That suits me for now 😁

Mewtwo ex active/gardevoir bench is the early broken strategy in vs battles. Very frustrating. Hopefully we see some tweaks to the battle system and more variety as more sets get released.

You can try the noex battles for more variety. Just enter noex as a password in the private games section and you will get paired with people who don't want to use EX pokemons.
