Suggestion: Pokecommunity Virtual gift shop

Maybe Pokecommunity need some new perks to make things more exciting?. Like for example if they want to have more options to customize their profile they could go to PC's gift shop to buy like new images for their background or new kind of coulours. But, like that would cost a certian amount of posts.

Bascially what I mean is there could be a PC gift shop that sells certian things to perk up user's profile and such but costs a certian amount of posts.

This wouldn't be a bad idea, but when we consider the fact that Upper tier supporters already have most of these, I can predict Lightning to strike down on this thread and say:

Eh. I'm not 100% sure that this will work. I mean, most of the perks go to the supporters, anyway, so if people could get them by other means, then less money goes into the PC fund, which is not a great thing.

Rank Images - I think this came up a while ago. We already have postcounts, so extra Ranks are just overcomplicating things.

I mean Medals that go right beside your name, or under. Like a small emoticon under your name on the posts you make. Like maybe pokeballs or Pokemon.

Maybe if we add a point system, we could use points to buy Pokemon of the PCPLaza. That would make Claiming harder and cooler. Buying pokemon on the forum would be great. Points could be by rep and post counts.

Well I dont really care about the way we can earn points but, I must say. It would be great to have a shop full of pokemon, wich we will be able to buy, and make our own teams. And it would be cool if the team would be published in every post we make. To make it more visible.

Great idea let's clutter up the postbit even more. Most of what you want to do is covered by a variety of things - signatures for images you want displayed every time you post, Claims sections in the profile etc.

The problem with a shop system, no matter how trivial the items on sale, is that there is no automated way to distribute points fairly and which has no potential to be abused by the sort of saddos who post in every topic in a particular forum just for +1 to their post counts. (Join date could be used, but it throws up its own, obvious problems in that new users will be effectively excluded from the system, and that it circumvents the whole point of a points system - to reward activity.) The only good points systems I've seen have had points distributed manually by an administrator, and that would never work on a forum of this size.

Ive seen a forum where you gain points by how big is your post. Big useless posts are usualy deleted by admins. Spamming words like @@@@@@@@@ on a whole page is going to be resulted by a infraction and ban. Maybe we could give out points by how big the post you make is?

Supporting should get a you a nominal amount of points let's say 5000 for Tier 5, and 1000 for Tier 1?

Posting, emblems, winning contests such as sotw or motm, acieving a certain amount of posts, supporting, and other members can donate points to one another, also used to buy certain things such as maybe signatures certain graphic artists have made or other things like that.

Here is my views.

Posting = No, Because people will spam for points. Besides people have like 1k+ posts already. Not fair for me d:
Emblems = Good, But its going to be hard for people to buy pokemon if you need emblems, since emblems are given manualy..
SOTW = Good idea, But not so much for people who do not do Graphics.
Supporting = I wouldnt pay just for a pokemon D:
This is why its hard to find a good Point system!
