    basic explanation: take the whole pokemon world (just the hoenn region at this point) and turn it into one giant 3d chat room.

    long, drawn out explanation: the idea for Pokemon 3D came about after i was reading some threads around here and was simultaneously re-discovering Adobe Atmosphere. then it hit me. why not give the Pokemon Community a nice present and virtualize the Pokemon World? Brilliant! then i got right to it. started re-familiarizing myself with Adobe Atmosphere, started the first work on building some of the 3d world and got a website online (fully xhtml and css compliant :) ). if you are just sitting there asking "What is Adobe Atmosphere?", then let me be the one to link you to a few sites that have some GREAT demonstrations of the versatility of Adobe Atmosphere:

    anywho, a tiny bit of the virtual world is up and accessible at the site if you would like to check it out. although it only works with IE (yes, sad. i know :( ), the atmosphere plugin and the site are clean as a whistle (or else i wouldnt be using it ;) ) so dont be afraid to add an exception for the site into your IE settings.

    REALLY nice, I was checking it out and **** that was cool.

    I mean the walking around and stuff. But, is it possible to see other people?

    If so what do hey look like?

    yep. chat is one of the major selling points for it. you can see other people and chat with them. and there are many avatars out there you ca use. you can even create your own if you wanted.

    and in the future I'm also hoping to set up the secret hideouts for those who wish to have them. these will only be accessible through a set chat command. there are no entry spots anywhere. but when you leave, they will end up in there usual spots on the routes.

    i almost forgot. need to set the info for the chat server. the ability to see other people should be going within a few minutes.

    and if anyone has any suggestions for better textures to use, feel free to let me know. what you see in the 1st and 2nd floor of the PC is nothing more than tilesets from frlg. i went this route to keep a resemblance to the gba games.

    thanks. and yeah, im the owner of Pokeradio. been at it for 2 years come tomrrow. :)

    anyways, just wanted to let you guys know that the reason why development is so slow is so i dont get too ahead of myself and get a whole mess of worlds done. why do you ask? well, as mentioned in the FAQ on the site, adobe has pulled all support for atmosphere. while this normally wouldnt be a problem, there is rumor going around they are also going to pull the viewer program (what you downloaded to visit the oldale Pokemon Center) and also make it so those who already have it will end up losing it as well. but there is a new solution to this problem. a new program called 3DBA (3D BuildAmation) is currently in development. it has basically been developed to take place of atmosphere, but is much better. for one, unlike Atmosphere, i can use any 3d program i want to build my worlds (3d studio max preffered myself) and export them straight to 3dba to put up on the website. this means that for some reason if 3dba never materializes or somehow gets wiped in the future, all my work wont be lost. simply find another 3d web chat program, and re-export all the worlds to it. and 2 big advnatages it has for me atleast: 1) being able to do all my modelling work in 3d studio max. so even if i cant model something, i can easily find what i want at 3dcafe.com and put it in. i was pretty much stuck with self-modelling in atmosphere. 2) faster 3d engine. even in a moderately sized world in atmo, even with a fast graphics card, you will still get massive framelag in the worlds. 3DBA has greatly improoved on this. i have personally tested it myself, and even with some high poly worlds i was getting a smooth framerate.

    anywho, enough of that. just wanted to update ya on things :) im probably going to go as far as finishing up the PC and getting oldale town done.
     
    just wanted to update everyone here on the project. while development is still pretty much dead, i have added a newsletter to the site so you can sign up and when anything new comes up, you will get an email about it to keep you updated.

    ok. im currently having trouble getting any emails to come from the newsletter script. if anyone would be willing to test it by signing up and letting me know if you get any emails from it. i will clear the signed up emails after this testing is done.

    what do you mean make a batter layout? the site or the 3d chat? if its the site, then why? its not the main focus imho. its just there to provide basic info about the chat and nothing more. if you are talking about the layout of the chat rooms, then that will be changed in the future as soon as i manage to get started in the new 3d system (which will allow me to use my favorite program, 3d studio max to model the chat rooms).
