Well, special Salemence isn't really that great.

In game he's a lot better off as a physical attacker. Earthquake and Aerial Ace work good on him. Fly is a bad move since it takes two turns.

Gardevoir with Hyper Beam = eww.

    Confusion sucks too.

    Psychic, Calm Mind, Thunderbolt, Substitute/Ice Punch/Fire Punch/Hypnosis

Towlie just offered you a good moveset for Gardevoir. For Salamence, I go with this:

    - Flamethrower / Double-Edge
    - Aerial Ace
    - Earthquake
    - Rock Slide

    Psychic, Calm Mind, Thunderbolt, Substitute/Ice Punch/Fire Punch/Hypnosis

I prefer Hypnosis. Not only is it a great status move, but it gives you a chance to jack yourself up with Calm Mind.

For Salamence, comparing Attack with Special Attack speaks for itself. Use his high Attack as an advantage. It's almost like having a special sweeper Metagross. He can get the job done, but not too well.

Also, Natures are very important when training a super pokemon, so here are my suggestions:

Gardevoir: Modest (or Timid, if you want some extra Speed, but I would go with Modest)

Salamence: Adamant for the physical sweeper (some people go with Jolly, but I wouldn't). If you really must use a special sweeper 'Mence, then go with Modest. If you must.

That's what's nice about Gardevoir. It has a good move pool so you have a lot of options for fourth move.

    A moveset for Gardevior

    -Psychic
    -Hypnosis
    -Wish
    -Will-0-Wisp

Hypnosis/Will-o-wisp isn't too good for an in game gardevoir seeing as the AI will never switch out.

That is where you are VERY wrong. Hypnosis is GREAT in-game due to the fact that the crappy AI won't switch out. What better way to power up your Gardevoir while your opponent sits there asleep? Use Calm Mind for a few turns and then Gardevoir sweeps through ANY team that the AI puts in front of you.

WOW works the same way. Bring Gardevoir in against a physical attacker, WOW it, and then Calm Mind while the physical attacks that are now halved do little damage. Sweep ftw.

Too many novice trainers think that it is best to beat the AI by brute force. Sure, you can do that. It is much easier to use simple strategy though, since the limited AI is programmed so that a six-year old can beat it. That is why I won't be wasting money on Diamond/Pearl. I was sick enough that the last two generations have gone along with the same boring storyline, limited AI, etc, etc, etc. Emerald though, with Battle Frontier, gave me a glimmer of hope though that GF had finally understood that not all people that play Pokermon is six, but now I know they don't care. Further more, they effectively ruin the gameplay by making special and physical attacks of each type. It has now taken a huge step back instead of forward. DP is like the current NBA. Too much emphasis on the offense. Boring, lame, and uninteresting. My opinion, of course.

you're really getting the hang of this, QB! XD

but with gardevoir, wish isn't as ideal as Calm Mind. you'll want to consider it over wish. but yannow, i like that you are looking at the game differently. it wasn't long ago that you seemed averted towards competitive battling. =)

we'll have to have a few battles over Wifi. =D
