Pokemon Game Series Timeline?

So what is the timeline for the pokemon games?

Putting it all together (each generation) how would that fall into the timeline?

for example, Gold and silver take place X years after Red and Blue... and so on until we are where we are today.

The reason I am asking is because I surprisingly am not finding the lore I want as it seems like there is no general timeline to piece it all together... but I am sure some of you are much more into the game series than I am and can help me out here.

GSC is set 3 years after RBY, that's confirmed. And DPPt opened with a report on the Red Gyrados, so they are clearly set at the same time as GSC. I'm not sure if it's confirmed anywhere, but it seems to be common consensus that RSE is set at the same time as RBY.

But really, there must be multiple timelines, because Cyrus managed to be attempting to destroy the world using different pokemon in three places at the same time.

Well, there's no real canon version of events, just a general outline.

Red/Blue/Yellow and Gold/Silver/Crystal seem to have been retconned out of existence, or at the very least FireRed/LeafGreen and HeartGold/SoulSilver have expanded on their storylines.

General consensus is that the Kanto and Hoenn sagas take place at about the same time. Logically, Orre's story in Colosseum takes place at the same time as well since you can trade to GBA games.

Three years after this, the HeartGold/SoulSilver story starts. Midway through the Johto story, the Sinnoh story begins. Since the Red Gyarados is mentioned to have disappeared at the start of Platinum, this means Sinnoh must begin after the player defeats/captures the Red Gyarados in Johto.

Also, XD takes place about five years after Colosseum, which would put it around two years after Johto and Sinnoh.

Well, Yes GSC and HG and SS happened exactly 3 years after after RBY, but I read that the Hoenn saga is a kid whose family moves from Johto to Hoenn, so how does that happen?

Hoenn's main protagonist and Johto's main protagonist aren't the same person.

Just because in DP there's a TV report on a Red Gyarados doesn't necessarily mean that it took place at the same time as GSC. It could be one of Sinnoh's own lakes, or even a lake in another region. In the image, you can see Mt. Coronet in the Background. Plus, Platinum doesn't have that TV report. It has something different. And where do BW fit into the mix? I always just assumed that the timeline went like this.

All that I'm very sure of is that Red/Blue/Yellow take place 3 years before Gold/Silver/Crystal and that Diamond/Pearl/Platinum take place before Black/White since Cynthia makes an appearance at Undella bay and mentions before battle that you the player remind her of another person she battled, which was the hiro in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.

Every game that doesn't clearly reference previous events may or may not take place before, during or after the events of game X but it doesn't really matter.

If "canon" matters that much to you you can claim one version of a game is the true events but damn that's overthinking it a bit.

Note that the reason why I state the Radio Tower Take Over happen before Sinnoh Crisis because Jasmine are still present when the take over take place.
